According to the latest Men's Health (on page 148), some recommendations made by the 2005 Dietary Guidelines scientific committee didn't make it into the official dietary guidelines issued by the Department of Human Health and Services. Most notably that we should eat fewer than 50 grams of added sugar and less than about 2 grams of trans fat per day.
I always wondered why they didn't have recommended daily allowances of sugar. Apparently it's because of sugar industry lobbyists.
