Not sure where to put this but here goes:

Anyone ever buy furniture from High Point, North Carolina? What was your experience? Is it worth it?

It's evidently like this big area for furniture.. almost like super outlet or something.. evidently some pretty good quality stuff.. it's just west of chapel hill and that area, i believe..
kind of like 'silicon valley' you think electronics..
evidently high point, nc, you think furniture (or so my wife says)
we were going to go once when we were in the area, but decided not to

Funny you should ask. We've purchased from NC places in the past on a smaller scale but with the new house in the works, we've been calling on them for larger ticket items. We placed an order for a DR set that was approximately 60% of a local furnature store's sale price. Saved close to $5k. We're now looking for family room furnishings and will be getting prices back tomorrow on a couple of Hancock & Moore leather couches and leather chair and a Sligh entertainment center. We originally got a price on a leather sectional, but from a fleibility standpoint we're opting for multiple couches. The sale price at Robb & Stucky's was $12,990 and $7,900 from NC. As long as you know what you're looking for, you'll have no problem. It can all be done over the phone.

If you're interested, I'll PM you the contact information tomorrow (need to get it from my wife...contact information, that is).

It is the place to go for outlet furniture. Like BI said, good deals to be had, but you have to go through a lot of crappy deals first. I've never purchased anything there either, but a lot of friends have and they stuff they got is high quality. Closer to Charlotte than Chapel Hill. It's about an hour north of me.

Thanks Faither, I really appreciate knowing who you used and had a good dealings with. I would like to know how you specified what furniture you wanted. Did you name specific stores products?

I've used Black's Furniture (http://www.blacksfurniture.com/) before - they sell just about all of the major mfr's goods. No need to travel there.

Just go to your local furniture store & pick out what you want. The tricky part sometimes is to get them to tell you the mfr & model of the pieces you like, since they know you can order the stuff for much less than their prices. Sometimes just the mfr is enough, and you can find the model # at the website.

Anyway, once you have that info just call up Blacks, they give you a quote & away you go. Even with shipping, it's about 35-40% cheaper than buying locally. Shipping time varies quite a bit, but is usually 4-6 weeks (although they always say 8 weeks).
