View Full Version : What irks you on G|A?
Man, I hate it when people post something like. "Wrong forum" , "This should be in blah blah blah" or "Gonna get move to blah blah blah". It's so annoying and adds NOTHING to the topic. It's like being a little tattle-tale bitch. Why can't people just let the moderator do the moderating?
So, what bothers you on here? (Besides LPs over abundant links ;) )

Methinks no good could come of this, so I'll refrain. Suffice it to say that the positives outweigh whatever negatives enough that I come back, and not just for the deals, but the community in general.

Well , I didn't meant it to turn into a personal insult fest. Obviously it doesn't bother me enough not to come back but when I'm browsing the posts and I read something like that it just gets me. I guess it's just small pecularities about the community/forum that bother you that I'm asking for.

You actually thought it couldn't turn into a insult fest? Calling people "It's like being a little tattle-tale bitch" is pretty insulting. Yes, I've told people that they posted in the wrong forum, so I'm a little tattle-tale bitch now? That's not meant to be insulting?

Fair enough. Although that wasn't why I started the thread. I started it because I was bored @ work and reading some threads and came across some where people did the whole 'wrong forum' thing. It's not like it's a big deal, just something small the irks me, so I figured I'd ask what other people get bothered by. You obviously are easily bothered on the forum as well.

This is just like the :stupid: taken as an insult if you don't like what the OP of the thread is talknig about don't read the thread, I don't think he's trying to go at all of the people who's done the where does this belong to post... chill people otherwise this thread will end up locked...

Not exactly easy bothered, half the time ignore most things. However, I found it ironic that you would say that you didn't intent to start controversy, yet you where calling people names indirectly. Your original statement was somewhat "baiting", then you say you don't meant to insult anyone. In any case, when a thread is started, the first post sets the tone, if you want to come out and start calling people "little tattle-tale bitch", then I think it sets a negative tone. If that's what the purpose, then my last statement applies, if not, then maybe something constructive may come out of this.

The thing that gets me is when someone starts a thread and uses a title that tells you nothing about the thread. You know, titles like "Hey..." or "Guess what"
What compounds the problem is when someone starts the thread with uninformative title then someone else posts the same thing and everyone jumps on him for a repost. If it originally had a good title people might not repost it.

When I'm reading a thread, and come across a "this should be in forum xyz" post, I find that it actually reminds me to think more about what forums I should be posting in *before* I post.
I guess I prefer to learn from the mistakes of others, rather than making them myself.

When people talk about Unions. :umm:
Massive typos and horrible grammar. It's fine if the obvious intention of bad spelling and grammar is to be funny, but when it's meant to be taken seriously the point gets lost, imo. If you're not intelligent enough to present your thoughts properly, I'm not going to take you seriously.
People who have nothing to add to a discussion but feel the need to pipe up anyway. I don't mean the "I'm with stupid"s, I mean when they actually say something that's supposed to be taken seriously.
Improper use of question marks. "This was supposed to be taken seriously?" is a question. "I didn't know this was supposed to be taken seriously?" is not a question, it's a statment. Fortunately, this doesn't happen very often.
Consistent bad comma usage. Sometimes proper comma use is not obvious, I'll grant you that. But a sentence like "Wouldn't it be great, if the rest of us could just get along?" obviously does not need a comma.

i am actually torn on the whole "repost" debate. on one hand, i hate reading threads that are filled with disclaimers about "i'm sorry if this is a repost, but..." i also tire of the constant "repost" alerts by like 5 different people in the same thread.
however, i also remember a time when reposts were a lot bigger problem. it does get annoying, particularly when people use ambiguous thread titles (ie "this is so funny..."), and it ends up being something that has already been posted 7 times.
so maybe some repost policing helps curb that problem.
