You all aren't gonna like me for this but---- I really like Laura and I have a feeling if I knew her in real life we would be friends. Don't hate me ya'll. What I don't understand is how in the name of JACK could she be making so little - or at least broke (-$60) if you were listening today if J,J and T make so dang much? Would they really be so mean as to leave her in the dust salary wise?

I wonder about Rick being there so much too hummmm. I thought it was interesting to see someone mention how this is a pretty small town afterall. I forget sometimes they live amoung us. So someone out there must know something!!!!!!

And anyways, where the heck are Greg and Sara?

Laura makes plenty of money! She just can't live within her means. Her husband is a pilot for god sakes and I remember reading in these threads last year that she makes at least 100K a year. She's $-60 in her checking account and complaining how she doesn't have enough to pay her rent yet on her diary she is talking about all this stuff she bought from Victoria Secret! She constantly talks about going shopping at Nordys and such, getting hair extentions, seeing Dr. Bucko etc.. etc... etc...Can you imagine what their credit card bills must look like? I really get tired of hearing about how rough her life is all the time. She has serious mental instabilities. :puke:
She is a very shallow, insecure whinner! :puke: :puke: :puke: and needs to get over herself real quick!

people... it's not common knowledge that they make so much money and they have to try to act like common folk. I think they have plenty of money and they are not poor. It's just that they can't have listeners relate to them if they just talked about all the money they had. I think many of the stories and scenarios they say are just fabricated lies.

I don't know about the rest of you but could live and support my family of 5 quite nicely on what Laura makes alone. She just wants to live the "high life" and doesn't know how to be satisfied with what she has. She always wants more, more, more, better, better, better. She works (if you want to call it that) 4 hours a day!! She has all kinds of time to spend with her kids! (which she is always complaining about how hard it is). She made some remark today on air when talking about taking care of her two kids "all by herself" ....she said something to the effect questioning herself if she should be "doing" this (having kids). I yelled to myself.... kinda late to wonder that now isn't it???!!! Those poor kids are going to wind up as neurotic as she is.

The music is growing on me, its just so RANDOM. That first 2 weeks the music was horrible. But i like how they are throwing in newer songs and some old school rap. oh yea im 23 so yea im was never really into star music but it got me through the day, i still find jack hard but i dont get any of the stations i listen to in the car at work

Something is going on with the addition of Rick. Have you noticed how little play time is going with Randy. My prediction is that either Randy or Tommy probably will be leaving and Rick will take over one of their jobs. They can't afford 6 people on one program in the San Diego Market.

Since Laura is such a party girl and her husband is obviously career oriented...the same thing may happen to them that happened to Jeff and Nina. Laura should quit her job (like Anita did) and be a good mom and stay at home with her kids. She needs to learn how to budget money. They can certainly afford to live on a pilot's salary. Look how many times they have moved. That is very costly. They had a house which was a poor purchase because old houses need lots of TLC and it just got too much for them. So now they are renters instead of owners.

Yesterday. Laura was so preoccupied with her personal life, that the rest of the crew had to take over for her. So....she got paid for doing nothing but complain about all her mother/wife duties which is a normal way of life for many of us. Many of us have full time jobs - 8-10 hours a day....and somehow don't spend the day taking care of personal problems. Give me a break!

It's clear to me why Laura cannot live within her means, because she has way too much time to spend the money - She needs a real job. I don't even consider what she does is a job. Anybody can complain about their personal life and do a little Hollywood dirt thing on the radio.

This was just part of her gig....they have to do something to spark a little life into a show that is fading into the sunset unfortunately.

This whole format change was a big mistake. It took the entire personality away from the station.

Not to make this a Laura bashing thread, but dang! She makes me nuts and is the ONLY reason I don't listen to them anymore.

I like J&J, Rick, Randy (I have a crush on him. Stop laughing.), I even don't mind Tommy (though he thinks he's all that).

I hate the "Jack" format, and quit listening when they changed over. I am now a Mikey Show P-1 105.3! I was curious how the J&J show was affected by the change and snuck back over to 100.7 for a listen, they were not funny and very annoying. Everyone here is complaining about Laura, am I the only one who can not stand Jer? I mean what is with the photos from Bhutan, creepy creepy :puke: He talks like he is such a manly man sheesh yea right, he wouldn't watch the notebook, but he has no problem with wearing a dress :stupid: I LOVE Jeff and wish the best for him and his family. I was told that Greg and Sara were supposed to start back to work the same day as J&J, hhmmm?? The story that Jen & Anita left on their own was a complete lie. It was not as nice as they (Jack)would have you believe.

If she is a good friend of yours, perhaps you should show her this forum. Maybe it will be a wake up call to her and her high maintenance way of life.
I am sure you all heard her this morning about wanting to put $3,000 more debt on their credit card and get Dave a putting green for his birthday. They don't even have enough money to buy a house, but they can buy a putting green!!!!!! Good grief....she's a nut case.

Plus it's another $1000 for the installation.

No your right, she spends way too much money on stuff. this is her personal business, i dont know why she writes it all in her diarys and says it ont he air..maybe she wants attention? they do make good money, double what my dad makes, and he makes good money. 2 good incomes seems fair but not when she buys 200$ belts, and 300$ paintings

Sameome: I agree with you. I think they all make great money, even still there are things we want and desire. Who would listen to a radio show full of people the rest of us could never relate with? All rich to want or worry for nothing?

There is a very different vibe since their return.

Im still wondering - anyone heard a thing about Greg and Sara?
Im betting they gave the whoo ha to JACK and decided to stick with Jen and all look for a job together - just my thought!

Has anyone noticed how many commercials they play on the show? I guess that's what is needed to pay them their salaries but holy cow! Today, in the last 54 minutes of the show, there was 24 minutes of commercials. Sounds lame but I just wanted to track it for once. The longest length of on-air time was 7 minutes. Crazy. Did you hear Jeff say "Star" and then catch himself? :)

LoyalListner9
05-03-2005, 01:31 PM
i did hear that. Pretty funny. It must be hard tho they said Star 100.7 about a billion times in the last how many years. And now it's JUST JACK.

He also mentioned Elizabeth today - haven't heard much from that arena lately.

I tuned in this morning at 7:30 specifically to listen to The Juice (I had to switch over from KGB). In typical form, the segment began at 7:37 after a sh*tload of commercials. I thought they were suppose to be playing LESS commercials. I wonder if they plan these long commercial breaks around donut runs.

I'm with many of you . . . I think the show has a weird vibe. Something's just not right. I think more STUFF is going to hit the fan.

sdbombshell
05-03-2005, 02:00 PM
Maybe the vibe is weird because everyone is worried about their jobs. If we believe what we've heard, none of the DJs knew about the change to Jack until the day it happened. Jen was fired without warning on March 31st, and she and Greg had the number one afternoon radio show in San Diego. She also worked at Star for almost 11 years. I know I'd feel very vulnerable right now. Especially since someone like Laura, who reportedly makes 100k a year, would probably not get anywhere near that salary if she went to a different station on her own.

scoobydooby
05-03-2005, 02:03 PM
I noticed it too when Laura wanted to change her "Crush of the Week" to something like "Fantasy Shag of The Week." She had stated that they were needed to be more "edgy" so why not try to give "Crush" an edge. She called the hubster about it, on air, but I think he felt a little put on the spot. I thought that was pretty lame. I don't think they do "edgy" very well and I think Rick is a dork. There is NOTHING edgy about him at all. Yep, something is very rotten in the state of Jack.

LoyalListner9
05-03-2005, 02:12 PM

cadetevon
05-03-2005, 02:13 PM
I like Rick and I like Randy too. But Laura drives me nuts-o.

sdbombshell
05-03-2005, 02:17 PM
I think they have Laura because they need at least one woman on the show. And I do think alot of listeners like her. Just like alot can't stand her.

Rick doesn't bother me, but it is weird they have him on the show so much now. There are way too many people, but I could never tell Jeff and Jer apart anyways. Wasn't one of them talking about moving to Italy?

Lipstick
05-03-2005, 02:18 PM
So many of Rick's jokes just fall flat and it sucks more air out of an already punctured show. I think part of the problem is that many of their lives are just as out of whack as their jobs are. Jeff & Jer should think about dumping their dysfunctional family, it's dragging 'em down.

On my scheduler, I have these things listed:

4. Ballgame.

How many of those things will I accomplish? My guess is zero. I’m too tired to primp. And, I’d rather stay home this afternoon, then go to the ballgame.

On the way out the door, a woman comes up to me and says, "Hey, Laura Cain! Love the show, but I need to say something about your diary."

Oh boy, here it comes.

"Um, you need to be a stronger woman in what you write." Huh?

I was having a hard time understanding where she was coming from. It was a case of the tipsy listening to the tipsy. I think she may have been dissing a little bit. Anyway, I just told her that it’s a Diary, a place where I’m free to write exactly what I feel. And, most of the time that feeling is one of doubt and insecurity. I want to be a stronger woman. I want to be able to write a perfectly wonderful entry every day, but that’s not real life, is it?

If you know you're being recorded then they don't have to. It's called tacit consent.

But if they call you and start just messing with you (and you aren't made aware that you're being recorded) then they have to get your permission to use it.

Clear as mud?

Exactly - and even if you give consent post record it's still a no-go if the original recording was taken without your knowledge. Talk to Tuesdays are no longer!

He played this piece of song by some person I've never heard of just saying "then" and going on singing but what kind of an idiot even thinks that would do anything for anyone??? They were annoying when they were on in the afternoon....who decided that they'd be any good in the AM? Yeah, that's something I want to wake up to...NOT! :lmfao:

They would have been smart if they brought on Jen and Greg. Supposedly, Greg was supposed to stay yet we have not heard anything from him. Either they ditched him or he is so behind the scenes, we'll never know. As for 94.1's site, it has said "Details Coming Soon" for their afternoons for weeks now. Wonder if they'll pick up Jen?

I have a bet with my boss for Monday. Back before Jeff & Jer returned from their "vacation", he said they wouldn't be back and I said they would....on the condition that every single person came back...so far they have with the addition of Rick....and that move leaves us all skeptical. I attended a media function the other night for Jack FM and Greg was there. Ohhh...interesting. She's very pleasant to talk to as I had called in to the show a few times but I didn't listen often because I was annoyed with "The Dirt" segments (and them playing the same tunes every hour). We better get to work on tomorrows show so we can keep the 11 listeners we have left (LOL)" hence you got to hear a replay today but I bet you that tomorrow's show will be AWESOME DUDE! :dead:

Something is definitely amok. I wonder if they're purposely trying to stink this bad or are just putting in a half-a#$ed effort until their contract expires. It really stinks because I used to like the show! They have to know that they reek. I don't listen now until the last 10 minutes to catch the SOD. They canned Jen from the afternoon because her ratings suck but put Rick on in the morning??? I guess his ratings couldn't suck because they only time you heard "jack" from him was at night when he did his stink intros for the J &J repeat evening show. He really blows. Lame. I hope Jen is doing better now. Are they ever going to bring Greg and Sara back? I thought she was hilarious. :)

Life in the fast lane can go awry. I think she is quite the party girl and he is not big on socializing. I know they both love the kids....but I think they get in her way. She's always traveling with her girls friends and also is very much into sports which leads many to think they she may have gotten involved with a baseball player. She is a ball girl for the Padres.

I didn't listen through the whole thing, so I may be wrong:

This morning they had the author of the book "How Do I Get Here" as the guest. She was talking about how we try to "fit" ourselves in our partners or others life by sacrifing this and that.... and get to a point that we are not happy with ourselves and our partners... something like that...

I am not sure if this was related to the "work" Jeff did on himself???

Carnival Paradise out of Long Beach to Ensenada. We started with a little one to see how it was. It was our first, but definitely not our last! It was one big party! Everything but alcohol and sodas are not included. It REALLY adds up the drink of the day is $6.75, refills are $4.50. You can buy a soda pass where you pay one flat fee for unlimited sodas. There is water(non bottled), coffee, hot chocolate, juice, punch, lemonade for free. I spent about $200 on pictures- you don't have to buy any if you don't want to. Oh and when you buy the pictures there is a display showing that if you try and scan their photos it will come out with Carnival stamped across them- I scanned mine and they turned out perfectly(i haven't printed them yet). I would definitely recommend. If you have motion sickness it would be a nightmare to be stuck on a ship any longer. We met a poor woman the first night who was horribly sick and had taken medicine that didn't help. The ride home was much more noticeably swaying, so it had to be the WORST trip of her life. We found the rocking to be comforting to go to sleep to. Hope that helps!

Sharloe's husband is VERY good looking and one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. Not sure what she was doing with the likes of Tommy in the first place. I just don't see what girls see in the guy. I thought Nina was too old to be a "ball girl," and thought it was odd that she did that. She's also an Over-the-Line player, isn't she?

When I first started listening to the show, one of the reasons I liked it was because of the relationships Jeff and Jer had with their wives. I really liked what their relationships "sounded" like on the show.

I remember him saying how in love he was with Sharloe and that he was going to get a tatoo, and then not too long afterward he cosigned a loan for another girl :stupid: It seemed like he was "in love" with one girl one week and "in love" with another the next and so on. Then start over at the beginning with the 1st girl to rotate again. "Gosh"<~said with Napoleon voice.

When you read it like this. You think it must be a "bit"... it' s got to be...nobody over 25 is really that effed up are they? My husband and I are together 20 years and yes we had a hard period very hard but we were adults, put the kid first before our very selfish selves, and you know what- we worked through it!!Yes it was work but today I absolutely adore him, and I'm pretty sure he feels the same about me. It's like they are advertising Hey if this wife and the kids she birthed you don't work out - it's ok another one is already in line, just have another set of kids with her so I'll have a whole gaggle of screwed up kids all over the place. You definitely need connections with the Padres. Both Jeff and Nina were very good friends with Mark Grant who was a player at one time and is now an announcer. So maybe that is the connection.

Also....their son was on the PA systems many times...at the beginning of the games. So you know they have connections.

It's not out of the question to take in someone's voice, comments, character, verbal tendancies, etc and make an assumption about them.

Was anyone shocked to find out that Duncan (as in Duncan & Mel on MY 94.1) is gay? I think not.

Yeah, Hawaii isn't cheap but I'm sure the airfare was (if not free), with him being a pilot. Eh, whatever...

With Dave being a pilot....it is pretty much a definite they got free air travel. Also...with all the station's connections and Tommy they probably got their hotel comped. The nanny is probably no-\-charge,, since she is getting a free vacation out of it. They probably have comps for meals also....so it is not costing them anywhere what it would cost the Average Joe.

I have a feeling they are not as broke as Laura always complains about...

Hey....did anyone here the interview with Donny Osmond this morning. My Jazzercise class does a couple of routines to his new CD. The CD is really good....amazing! And....hard to believe he is a grandfather.

OMG!! Now it's just funny!! They are giving out a direct line for Laura 619-917-DIRT. Only 5 people called it and the calls were basically saying that she sucks. Someone actually told her to get Flonase! :lmfao: Oh and the only person who actually had celebrity dirt told her they were stupid "Brad Pitt didn't buy the house in Del Mar, He bought one in Malibu" oh that's a news flash :fro:

I'm pretty sure that I would confidently bet $1M against anyone who wasn't listening to correctly guess what they talked about today. They talked about it as if it was a serious community service by discussing this subject.
Seriously :spock: I want you to concentrate and guess. When you have thought of the most outlandish subject, feel confident that I think you are probably wrong.

They were discussing the best places in San Diego to take a dump! Jer likes Staples the best. Laura said Nordies. :disa: WTF??

She commented that she was out partying last night with the girls. Hello!

You can imagine how much wine she had and she already has been told what sulfites can do to your sinuses. She really is blonde!

I hope nobody is as unfortunate as I am:

I tuned in J&J on the way to work and they were talking to some guy who was banned at work to use the bathroom.... that was sooo disgusting.

I just tuned in to get SOD, and I cannot believe they were replaying that segment.

Some girl called to tell them they were gross.. and they just thought that was funny....

How low can they go?

My bet is that they are on their way out, maybe they are making their shows so badly so that they can get out of their contract, the sooner the better, which I think someone said is August 2005. I don't remember their shows being so awful.

Pam (Jeff or Jer's wife can't remember) called in this morning and said that she listens to the show all the time and this was the worst. She couldn't believe that they were talking about this on the show. So if the wife calls in - you know it is bad.
