Does having the ram chips (black boxes whatever they're called) on both sides of the ram make it any better then a stick with them on 1 side, or does it matter at all?

Having a double-sided ram chip in general is a good thing, as there is potentially usable chip space on the backside of the ram chip. However, I have heard of people having compatibility issues w/ double-sided ram.
The most obvious good thing about it, is possible increased size.
However, I can see it going two ways. One being that you get a ram chip that has each chip 1/2 of the normal size, same memory size as a single sided one, but with crappy pieces now.

You'll often see double sided ram in systems with few ram slots. If you have a small pc with only two ram slots, but the mobo supports like 4gb of ram, you're gonna need some heavily populated ram chips!
