No rating necessary, and they actually play good music. You can create your own "station" and invite anybody to listen to it. The rewards program is actually very good considering the amount of inactivity (and lack of ad viewing) required to users. If you'd like to check it out and sign up under me, please use the following link:
http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520

If not, just go to their home page and sign up. I posted the Reward FAQ below in case you have any questions.
-----

What is the Echo Rewards Program?

The Echo Rewards Program is our way of thanking you for doing what you already love to do-listen to your favorite music. With the rewards points you earn, you can earn great prizes, including gift certificates from amazon.com (great for CDs!), InternetCash, frequent flier miles from WebMiles, and PC speakers from Cambridge SoundWorks.

How do I earn Rewards Points?

You earn points based upon:
1. The number of minutes you spend listening to our service.
2. The number of minutes the friends you refer listen to the service, as well as the referrals below them, for a total of 4 levels of referrals.
3. When you do things like rate certain new releases, register for the site and refer people (you earn points for referrals signing up in addition to the points you earn from them listening). Look for the green reward points tags throughout the website for more details

How do referrals work?

There are two types of referrals - direct referrals and indirect referrals. A direct referral is an Echo listener who registered through a link that specified your username as the referrer. An indirect referral is an Echo listener who was referred to Echo by one of your direct referrals. You can have three levels of indirect referrals beyond your direct referral. There is no limit to the amount of direct or indirect referrals you can accumulate.

At what rate do I accumulate Rewards Points?

Your rewards counter will rise at the following rate:
53 rewards points for every hour that you listen up to 300 hours per month
21 rewards points for every hour that one of your direct referrals listens up to 300 hours per month
10 rewards points for every hour that one of your indirect referrals listens up to 300 hours per month
To check the pace at which you are earning rewards points, refer to the rewards rate counter on the main rewards page.

It is important to note that if one of your direct or indirect referrals listens more than you in any given month, you only earn points for that referral's time up to the amount you listened. For example, if you listened for 50 hours but your referral listened for 100 hours, you only get credit for 50 of your referral's listening hours.

What can I do with my Rewards Points?

At any time, you can redeem your rewards points for the great prizes listed on our rewards page. Each prize has a corresponding "price" in rewards points. If you have enough rewards points to get a particular prize, simply click on that prize, fill out the necessary information and we will send you the prize and deduct the required points from your rewards account. Note that the prices of the prizes are subject to change at any time. In the event of such a change, Echo will inform its users (through e-mail or otherwise) at least 7 days before the change takes effect.

What if I still have questions?

If, after reading these FAQ's and the Rewards Program Terms and Conditions we have not answered your question, please contact us at [email protected]

we can make a chain... http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=4418

i leave it on all day long (24hrs) on my computer at work. i just minimize it and it doesn't affect anything. I like programs like these where you don't even have to cheat!!

agreed. the potential for this program is huge. points accumulate fast, especially if you have any referrals. i do jaboom too, and i'm spent after rating 20 songs. you don't have to do anything with echo, plus the music is pretty good. check out my music station if you do sign up...

<A HREF="http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520" TARGET=_blank>jeepers, why don't you repost all of your amazon codes and tell them they're for the refer-a-friend program. i don't want to shoot down your deals. this time, though, they shouldn't have to send you $5 through paypal.

Why not? The 5$ from Pay Pal is free... Shouldn't be an issue...

vivarey

because i would be willing to send anyone a $5 GC for Amazon from refer-a-friend WITHOUT making them send me anything. i'm sure there are many other that would do the same. look at civic's recent post in the deal forum...

not to mention you would get a lot more people to take your referrals. most people here already signed up for the free $5 from paypal a long time ago.

PS: going to back to echo - i should be getting my first GC to amazon in a couple days. if you want to check it out, click here (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520). yes, that is a referral link http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

That is true, the $5 from Paypal is free. But it's basically cash which is always stackable and usable anywhere. However the Amazon codes are also free, are not stackable, and are only usable at Amazon.

vivarey

good point pike. why would anyone want to trade $5 in cash for $5 in a non-stackable GC to only one store anyway? did anyone take you up on your offer jeepers?

When does Echo.com (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=5129) pay out? I couldn't find the info anywhere...

Has anyone earned enough points to cash out at Echo.com (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520)yet? I've been listening a lot lately so I'm getting close to that point. I'll post and let everyone know how long it takes to receive the GC. Considering how long (and how much money) it must have taken to develop this site, they must be serious. I am not worried about it.

Echo Tip:
Considering the good quality of songs on Echo (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520), you might want to record some of the stuff you hear. There's a program called Voquette Media Manager that allows you to record all kinds of streaming audio and save it to your PC or even portable MP3 player. Here's the link (http://www.voquette.com/cgi-bin/CssP.exe/VoquetteClient/getForm/Downloads.html?CssServer=localhost%3A32200).

If you don't have an Echo (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520) account, sign up here (http://www.echo.com/index_invitation.jsp?ref=3520).

PS - I realize you could download the MP3 of the songs you like, but if you don't have the best connection, this way is much faster. This program is supposed to automatically correct for net congestion.

btw, they've upgraded their server now, so it's streaming again. They also changed a few things on their website as well
