Well, after 32 years of fighting the good fight for bachelors everywhere, it's time to hang it up and submit to domestication. We've set a date for 1APR06. The date is for us to know and the guests to wonder about...

Is there a reason you select April 1st? (April Fools Day)

lol

Congrats regardless!

Yes, she's a catch. She puts up with me, 'nuff said. I'm the lucky one, she deals with my dangerous job, not one complaint. She made her grad school work with a 4.0, and does HR and Labor consulting for herself, and is working on a book about getting employed successfully. As for the date, it's our little joke. We just thought it was appropriate for us. For the honeymoon, she's not wanting to do the beach thing, we're renting a Harley in London, and going to tour Scotland and Ireland with it. Can't wait.

The only thing I'm nervous about is the ring. I've never worn any sort of jewelry, and she won't accept my excuse that I can't because I woodwork too much. LOL. She's going to shackle me in either titanium or tungsten, as it's a)different, and b)very stong and I don't like gold/silver/plat.

Anyway, thanks for the compliments.

Yeah, that's a cool idea with the titanium or tungsten band. Much more useful than gold.

What's harder than titanium? You should get that.

Congrats!

Nice honeymoon plans. I drove from London to Scotland and it is a beautiful country. People drive better there then they do here. If you get a chance to go to Dunon, Scotland. It's where the old US Naval base used to be. Now it's a sleepy little tourist place with lots of bed and breakfasts. You have to take a ferry outside of Glascow, but it's pretty neat and well worth the side trip imo.

See...if you had done it on a leap day like me you would only have 1 wedding anniversary every 4 years. This way she can never claim you forgot the date.

Congrats and let the hell of planning begin.

Thanks crusher. Actually, as crazy busy as her life is, she's actually saying the planning is keeping her sane. Go fig. And she's doing it from CT, for a wedding in OH.

Congratulations on convincing your fiance to go with April 1st! I tried to get my wife to go for the April 1st wedding day since it would be a three-peat for my family: both my grandparents and my parents were married on April 1st. My wife knows me too well and wouldn't allow even the thought of it, hence the reason why we went with March 17th, St. Patrick's Day, instead.

'grats bro. I hope you have a great time in the upcoming months picking out tuxes, which cake to use, what silverware to use, saying that you like her dress, picking out the meal, figuring out hotels for guests, figuring out flights for guests....and all the other fun stuff that goes into a wedding! =)

Oh I am sooooo lucky there. A) I don't really care about how anything looks as long as she's happy, and she knows that, so I get asked very, very little. The only exception being I'm the foodie, so I get a little on that, but cake, flowers, live band, etc are already done. She's got mad org skills. B) She doesn't have a family that she's inviting, and I have a very small one so guests aren't really a hotel consideration.

The only thing I am responsible for is planning the honeymoon. I'm currently researching routes from London to the Dover coast, around to Wales, up to the Highlands, the Whisky trail for distillery visits, Loch Ness, then over to Ireland and over to Dublin, and then the coastlines. All on a Harley.

Thanks all for the congratulations.
