G|A T-Shirt Design Contest! Congratulations DankNstickY!

okay folks, after much deliberation and a couple of meetings... we've decided to hold a design contest for the new and improved Got Apex? T-Shirts!

we're designing a couple in house as it is.... but want a bit more variety and are giving the chance for some of you photoshoppers and designers to create one that'll be displayed for the world to see. :)

It'll be judged by all here on staff and we'll be accepting designs until May 31, 2005. 3 will be chosen to run along side the in house and will be sold on our Cafe Press account.

The 3 that are chosen will EACH receive:
- an iPod Shuffle (the 512mb version)
- a quarterly credit towards a free clothing item at our Cafe Press or in-house ghetto fabulous store for an entire year.
- and the chance to be recognized by all as s/he who designed one of our shirts!

There may be additional benefits that we will add later.

There are NO limits to how many designs you can enter. But please refrain from sending us submissions that have one or two things changed from your previous design.

Our own in-house designs will be revealed with the winners of this contest...

To be considered, please send all work with the following requirements:
- jpg or gif images only please. do not send psd, tif's, or some other obscure file - these will be deleted. (the winning images to be printed from will have to be in the form of a TIF, PSD, or a high quality JPG with certain requirements - but not for submission)
- MINIMUM file dimensions: 800 pixels at the long end. (for submission only)
- the design has to be tasteful and without expletives (not "stars" either) or nudity.
- if you're an artist and draw everything out, please contact me so that i can give you a mailing address.
- images used for the design must include either a proof or statement of ownership or must be of a stock photography that has been approved for general use. (won't be required for submission but will be required if chosen)
- quotes/sayings must come with credit in small but legible type. (unless it's yours)
- front and rear design is required. sleeve and/or "logo" design will also be accepted. please be sure to indicate which is what and goes where.
- obviously, the words "Got Apex?" have to be included in the design and yes, the question mark must be there.

p.s.: immediate family members of the G|A staff may and/or will be submitting but are not eligible for the prize. if a staff design wins, we'll pick the next runner up for the 3 prizes,... in other words, we're giving 3 prizes out to those outside of the G|A staff.

hey.... you never know. i'm not saying that one needs to be an expert or nobody... but we're looking for a variety of styles and will probably choose a variety. i know that we're not going to want just one series of "look" where every single one looks the same....

so i like the crayon idea. i like the spring break picture idea. bottom line, go for it. draw it out. mail it to me. (email me for the address) let's see what you've got! :)

oh... by the way... lights, do you want us to use whatever logo images we see around the site, or do you guys want to provide higher quality images like the logo, coins, and whatever else there is that represents g|a?

ok folks....
first off... thanks to everyone who submitted.

second... we're going to change the award so that only one (instead of the original 3) of you guys who have submitted will receive the ipod shuffle. this is primarily due to the number of the submissions (or lack thereof).

the winner will be contacted via email within 5 days from today.

the only question i have at this point is if people want to see another contest run. if we do,... any suggestions on how best to run it would be gladly received and at least considered.

if you want to see another contest run, sound off here. if we get enough of an interest,... we'll run another one. if not, we'll scratch it off and focus on the in house designs.


so when are we gonna know the results on the winners?
