Congratulations on the new job! I once worked in the Mens Wear department at Harrod's Department store in London. You should have a lot of interesting people come in.

You never heard of Barney's? It's an upscale department store and I don't think there are many of them out here in SoCal. I know there is an outlet store in Cabazon.

BTW congrats on the new job. Too bad I can't afford Barney's clothing. :D

oh brewmaster....you need to get in the car with your new wife...and take the 10 towards beverly hills, and come visit.
im sure your wife will find LOTS AND LOTS of things shes gonna want you to buy her.
hahahhaa
bring your credit cards...youre gonna need it.

and Burzhui, although 7s are still the number one selling jeans, you should venture out to other brands...with awesome fit.
you want to be special no? i hear 7s are selling at costco now, which is a big NO-NO..
so...buy true religions, or i personally like chip & pepper

Hmmm . . . if you'd posted that about a week and a half ago, you definitely would have had a customer. While I was out in LA, I was looking for jeans since I didn't get a chance to shop for them before leaving NYC. I checked out a few places and ultimately bought a pair from Lisa Klein . . . then when I got back to NYC, I picked up a pair from Barney's Coop

yea but i don't want to buy jeans that someone else has worn... that's like ewww

the other thing is with jeans that are naturally worn out, they start wearing out at the seams and between the thighs and that is sometimes not a good thing. Here you buy faded jeans that have been worn out and faded under control, in proper places.

maybe the ones at costco are the "other" brand named seven... i believe one is spelled se7en, and the other seven, or something like that... anyway. some cheaper outfit recently introduced a line with a deliberately confusing name to capitalize on the success of the original...

dickies are the reason why you get sweaty! Bad, cheap, although very strong fabric... if i'm not mistaken it's used by many companies as uniform clothes. UPS uses them i believe

maybe you can help me find a new pair of jeans...i'm terrible with fashion--

i've been stuck on buying pairs and pairs of sevens and paper denims for years and years...and years now. need to look into others...but nothing really looks nice on me anyway...

i'm only at barneys once or twice a month now, but maybe you can help? :)

i believe express made a sevens line of jeans a few years ago-- confusingly similar in name to sevens for all mankind jeans, and advertised for its quality in tailoring the perfect fit. as it was sold in express stores, they were probably sold for a lot less than sevens for all mankind, and were of inferior quality.

i heard that express was also sued by sevens for all mankind for this product and was forced to remove their express sevens jeans from the market.

i start on the 17th...so you can come shop after that....
dont stalk me now...

sevens and paper denim are cool...but there are so many more...

Designer jeans are so '70s! What difference does it make whose name is on your a$$? I guess I never was a fashion slave. Which does not mean I dress shabby or sloppy. I just buy clothes that look good on me- I don't care what name is on them and I refuse to pay $50 or more for pants (except for dress pants). Cotton for casual, wool for dress. No polyester thank you. Talk about making you sweat standing around!

how many times are you going to wear these jeans? i'm guessing not more than a few times/month when you go clubbing. it's not worth spending a couple hundred on jeans so that complete strangers can validate my sense of self-worth. no offense intended but

actually, jeans ARE different. people who know can feel the difference between good quality ones and cheap ones. a friend of mine can care less about clothes, but she does will spend a lot on jeans.

cheapie
05-09-2005, 11:43 AM
puhlease. it's not the quality. it's the name recognition. ooooh...you have X brand. you are uber cool and can get in this club. until next week. when that brand goes out of style.

Jane83
05-09-2005, 11:53 AM
sorry cheapie...sounds like you have problems with getting into a club.
in all honesty, the fit IS different in the better jeans. Theres more fabric washes done to them that DO cost them that extra dollar.
there IS a difference between an Armani suit to a suit you got at the 3 day suit broker.
The name is what makes it appeal to the lower income average consumer.
designer clothes were never made for the average man, and definately the poor.
its a completely different genre, where money is NEVER a factor, and QUALITY is what youre looking for.
nowadays, people who cant afford the stuff want to indulge to fill in that look, and sure, you can look down on that, but for those who really do care about quality, and fit, and such, it works for them.

nice sale's pitch ;)
but high price and a brag tag doesn't necessarily mean high quality.

take Abercrombie & Fitch clothes for example, and i realize they aren't uber expensive, but they are definitely clothing that falls apart after one washing and people pay ridiculous prices for the name.

lol. no. they don't have clubs in kalamazoo that you have to worry about getting in. and believe me, i understand the difference in quality between goods. i'm the guy that drives a car around with a bike on it that's worth more than the car.

however, i am a degreed marketing professional. i know that these top jeans "might" costs twice as much to manufacture...that takes it to about $12 or so/pair. the astronomical price difference is realized only because the retailer has been able to create a perceived value that is largely based on how the consumer thinks their peers will view them when wearing the product, NOT because the jeans will last longer or fit better. and if you think brand name doesn't mean anything to higher income consumers, you are straight up outa' your mind.

you are absolutely right, the names do matter! But so does the quality, and when you get brands that are popular and are in fact of good quality, it's a win win situation. I find it very rare that non brand name clothes hold up well or are of stylish quality for me to wear, and thus i resort to designer clothes, the fabric is much more pleasant, it holds up better, keeps the colors well and it makes me feel good. I mean i wear A|X when i go camping for crying out loud, because the clothes are just more pleasant to wear

i have no prob w/you personally burz. i am just amazed at the money you spend on clothes that will find their way to back of your closet in months.

i also hate the fact that much of how our society places values on someone based on how they look or how expensive their clothes are. and the whole club scene just makes me want to vomit. not because i'm ugly, not successful, an extrovert, etc. it's just so stinking superficial.

but you're cool. 'cept for when you stole that thing out of the guy's cart a couple years ago. that sucked. ;)
