This is really getting depressing. Every day the news has a bombing in Iraq and some innocent little girl being murdered. That really, REALLY pisses me off. Makes me glad we have two boys so far. Pretty scary. :neartears:

When I have kids I'm getting a security system...and maybe I'll implant some gps locators into them...

When you have a little boy ,you only worry about 1 penis. When you have a little girl, you worry about them all.

i just looked up my neighborhood in the CA system. It's frightening that there is a child molestor living 4 blocks away from the elementary school.
For CA:

sex offender doesn't always = child molester. could be a guy that bothered an adult woman. there are degrees of sex offenders. some of which worry me, some of which are just the result of some drunk idiot grabbing a waitress' a$$.

It does seem to be the case though most of the time from what I've seen. I went the Megans law website a few months ago to check out my area and it seems like 9 out of 10 of the sex offenders have crimes against children on their record. Kind of sad...

I am well aware of that. In the CA system you can look at the sex offenders offenses in their profile. This one is a child molester.
there is also a 2-time convicted rapist living not too far from us. luckily there is the 210 freeway in between his house and mine.

Yeah, but some should be pulled out of there... I think many places still list an 18 year old who has sex with his 17 year old girlfriend as a 'crime against children' since 17 is still underage in some places. It would be helpful to see the exact crimes they were convicted of.

For once, all the predators were innocent. They have arrested the father of one of the girls for the murders. He is such an upstanding guy, he just got out of prison for assault. Why the mother would allow this guy near her kid I do not understand. Unless, of course, it was court ordered visitation. :neartears So the bad news is 2 kids are dead. Good news is they got the guy quick. :woohoo:

Pink (Licence) Plates Proposed For Sex Offenders
Officer.com & NBC4i.com ^ | April 27, 2005
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Some Ohioans convicted of drunken driving can be seen driving vehicles with yellow license plates. If one Ohio lawmaker has his way, sexual predators could soon have to drive vehicles with pink license plates, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported.
The bright yellow license plates help law enforcement officers recognize drivers with multiple DUI convictions.
"We've sold over 16,000 in the past five years," said Fred Stratmann, of the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
The pink plates could help notify police -- and parents -- of another type of offender.
"It identifies them," said Rep. Michael DeBose, (D) 12th District. "The primary reason they can prey is because they're camouflaged from who they really are."
DeBose introduced a bill this week in the Ohio House suggesting mandatory pink license plates for sexual offenders so children know to stay away, Tate reported.
"There's such a problem -- around rec centers, parks, school yards," he said. "There's no way to identify them and to protect children."
DeBose wants tough penalties for sexual predators who try to disguise themselves by removing their plates.
The Ohio Department of Public Safety isn't sure a sexual offense warrants a special plate as much as a drunken driving conviction does, Tate reported.
But DuBose said this crime deserves the color.

Man... that Megan's law site is scary. There are 198 registered sex offenders in my town, most of whom have the red check (stands for in violation). btw... what does in violation mean? I don't see how that could possibly be a good thing...

Yeah, scary un-fun stuff. This is part of my job, I get a lot of these sickos on probation to me. The worst part is they LOVE to talk about what they did, the sex preds are real messed up in the head. I even have a guy right now who is in for molesting his own granddaughter. Special code for him:2907.05(A)(4) GSI- when victim is under 13. I can deal with the regular ciminals, as much as they frustrate me sometimes, but the sex offenders have a special place in my heart for my worst, most disgusting assignments I can think of. And I love to get creative. It's all I can do not to punch some of them in my office...
These are guys we're on a manhunt for now:

Because you want to raise a child who is not scared all the time. Childhood is suppossed to be the best time of your life. Its hard but you have to let your child live his life and hope that you are there to stop it if anything should happen. As much as we would all like to wrap our children in cotton we can't let the ba*tards win. All we can do is try and teach them to be aware whereever they are. Of course how do you teach a child to be scared of her own father. They ought to just shoot the pr*ck and get it over with.

Eventually something will give and either the laws will be relaxed (less time) or we will start putting down these multiple strike predators. We have to find another way to deal with these deviants. Jails are getting more and more crowed. Prisons fiiled up with these predators. They spend their days recounting their crimes to each other and bragging about what they are going to do when they get out. I don't have a problem with them being put down, like a rabid dog. We shouldn't continue to give them the opportunity to hurt other children.

Castration is too easy and death to quick but I find both to be very viable paths to take to limit the number of sex crimes committed against children. Strike one, cut it off .Strike two, a quick needle. Of course this only speaks to the male predators. I am not sure what you would do with the female ones. Although I would think the # of women who kill their victims would be signifacantly lower than the men. :bash:
