I am a gamer and grapic designer... and so far my original microsoft optical mouse has done me well... but i want to upgrade... i have heard that logitech's mx 518 is basically everyone's favorite mouse... with 16000 dpi, but its corded... and i was hoping for a wireless mouse... i know that logitech also came out with the mx 1000.... its laser is supposed to be amazing and it is wireless, but it doesnt have a dpi rating, and i heard that it might lag becasue its wireless... any opinions as to which mouse to get or which is your fav high res mouse?

I've been using the MX 700 for a couple of years, and it's fantastic while I'm gaming.

If you like your ms optical, you'll love the mx1000.

I dont think it's a accurate or as responsive as the 518 just because it is still a wireless. My mx700 feels better than my ms optical at work. So the MX1000 should be better.

On sale at amazon for $50 right now. I think it's thru tigerdirect, but no rebates.

thanks jello, so i know that amazon has both the 518 and 1000 on sale for about $50 right now... in your best judgement which would you recommend i buy... the 518 with proven responsiveness and accuracy, or the new 1000 wiht wireless.... or should i wait till the 2nd gen of laser mice?

I've worked with the MX1000, and it's simply amazing -- very responsive, no noticeable lag, and definately better than my MX700 (not that the MX700 is "bad" -- just that the 1000 is noticeably better).

That would be my recommendation if you wanted a wireless mouse.

Go wireless. It will be a bigger change then the wired 518 and the wireless price should stay high so you can sell it later, while the mx518 price will probably start dropping in the next few months. At least thats what happened with 510 and the 500. I kind of wish the mx518 was wireless. It still feels real light to me.

i just ordered the mx510. i've heard good things about it. i'm sure it doesnt really compare to the mx518, but i think its still going to be a good mouse. from what i've heard/read, if you're going with a wired mouse, ii say you go with the 518. i'm getting the 510 because i'm going to be using it on my mac, and the 518 is lacking drivers and stuff.

I like my MX510... no problems with it so far. :D

yea i just got mine delivered yesterday... hooked it up to the g5... but for some reason it wouldnt detect it. after a couple restarts, it was going good. very nice mouse so far. looks way better than in the pics too. the blue is a nicer darker blue than what i've normally seen in pics. sweeeeet.
