I have multiple email addressed but a main for friends and family only. For years, I had little spam but this past 2 weeks I get at least 10 a day from the same place. They all use familiar names like "
[email protected]." or "
[email protected]." with subjects like "mailing error" or "undelivered mail". I never open them, I assume they are coming from the same place because they all have an attachment that is 73KB. They usually go into my junk mail folder but once in awhile they go in my regular folder. Very annoying, is there any way to trace these to see where they are coming from? I thought about going to a public library to open these to see what they are but I don't want to affect a library computer.

may want to search for some spyware. What are good anti spam programs?

Mozilla Thunderbird has a very good spam filter.

Could be a virus... does your antivirus program have a mail filter running?

Perhaps one of your friends has a virus, and these emails are being sent from his/her infected computer.

Another possibility is that the sender is spoofing your email address as the source, and when a delivery failure occurs it bounces back to you.

I checked for a virus with Trend Micro, checked for spyware with Spybot, I am clean. I got 9 of these emails today. Other of these emails, the computer is fine and running fast with no problems. The thoughts in this thread of where these may be coming from is interesting, is there anyway to trace emails.
