We just got back from the realtor's office. We made an offer on a pretty nice condo in our area. Mommypooh and I now just have to cross our fingers and wait.

Nah, dont cross your fingers. Just take out your checkbook and write a few more zeros. :deal: :kaching: :wow:
Hope you get it. We still havent been able to find a place where we dont have to write all those extra zeros ourselves.

California is an ungodly place to try and buy. We bought our last house in 1977 and paid $46,000. We sold it last year for $402,000! I feel bad because the couple who bought it are both working 2 jobs to pay their $3000 a month mortgage. :)

I prefer Lowes for a better selection but I got more knowledgable people at Home Depot.
I'm still living in a condo looking to upgrade ASAP.

Congrats, and you might as well open up a Home Depot account right now. It's not even my house (my parents') but I've dropped soooo much cash there and at Lowes. And always multiple freaking trips. Luckily I live five minutes away from one.

Ah, yes - I still remember the trip to Home Depot right after we moved into our house - we went to buy light bulbs, and came out with $300 worth of stuff.

Good Luck-
And don't let these people scare you-in your own home, you can do what you like, when you like, and with materials you like..renters don't have that option...
and don't forget..you don't need to do everything all at once..take it one room at a time :)

Good luck for a smooth and uneventful closing. You have the next 30 years toget it just the way you and the bank want it!

When I closed on my condo I checked weekly to see if it was registered with the state with me as the rightful owner. 4 months later, several calls to the title company, a dozen calls to the state office a taxation or whatever, I finally received the deed.
Almost a year later I'm refinancing and the freaking title company also forgot to send me my title insurance policy so my load is pending receipt of that.
One day I look forward to moving into a house with more than one floor and a private garage. You two are so lucky :)

I've been through them a few times (2 home purchases, numerous refinancings). Don't worry, you will recover from the writer's cramp (from signing your name so many times) in a short while. ;)

Let the games begin. Moving is a pain in the keister. When we moved last may,we had lived in our house for 26 years! So of course 26 years worth of s**t. 5 garage sales, 6 visits by amvets and lots of stuff given away to friends and neighbors. We cut back big time and stillhad enough cr*p that we hired movers and let them do it all. I do love equity! Good luck. Take it slow and easy. And don't get too stressed out. You are going to live there hopefully a long time so nothing has to be done that can't wait a day. Unless there is water gushing! Did you get a 1 year insurance policy against anything breaking? Hope so.

Yup. Seller payed the first year. We can continue it if we wish (which we are told is a GOOD idea based on it's price).
Brew, we had to move up our closing date to "secure our low-low rate"...:hmm:
I just think they wanted our money sooner. That and the seller wanted to get rid of the house. He lives in Cali and bought it for his mom. I guess she's been dead for about a year and he finally got around to clearing out and re-doing the house. It was up on the market for 29 days when we made the offer.
