When I first saw the pictures of the new Stang, I was so excited. I didn't see any for a long time on the road. However, in the past month, I have seen quite a few.
Now that I have looked at them in real life, I hate to say that I really don't care for them. The front end is too close to the front wheel opening (not enough overhang) and the rear has too much overhang.
In addition, the front headlight enclosures make the car look sad. And the taillights just don't look right.
Maybe it will grow on me. Or maybe Saleen will add some body panels to give it the right look.

I think the emblem on the back is way too big.

But that's the new trend. Ginormous emblems to make sure you don't mistake that car for another make. <sarcasm>Cause you know there aren't any cars on the road that look like each other at all</sarcasm>

I like it. Haven't driven it yet. Excited about the SVT one. (looks mega badass) but the interior is cheap.

i thought it was cool looking in all the pre-release stuff i saw. i still think it looks good, but not as bad ass as I expected. Perhaps it's just perception distortion with all of the SUVs on the road, but I think the Mustang looks a little small.

I kinda like the size of the emblem. It's an homage to the original gas caps found on the earlier generation Mustangs.
I agree that it looked better in pictures than in real life, but I like the retro look. If only the Chevy (C7 maybe?) would get the idea. It would be cool to see a Vette that looks like a roadster and not a spaceship.
Not to change the subject, but while we're discussing the look of new cars, what do people think of the new 3 series BMW (e90)? I don't care much for the new design and the interior looks like crap, but it does look better in person than in pictures.

Welcome back. :D
Blame my return on nickel. She invited me back :wavey2:
I am presently making my 64-1/2 Mustang into a Restromod..adding a 5.0 out of a '92 Mustang , automatic AOD, disc brakes, power steering and 16" American Racing wheels. I hope I will be finished by September.
After seeing the 60's cars in Atlantic City this year and what they are bringing, I decided to go all out on this car. Next will be my '57 Chevy.

Sounds like a great project. I look forward to seeing pics!

Yeah I agree, that car looks depressed. I think this is one of those cars that looks better in pictures than in person.

great topic. I am going to be ordering one in the next week. I am thinking about the legendary lime. Expected delivery date is november/december. Kinda sucks.
I like the rear emblem, because it is just like the old gas caps. the only thing i dont like on the car is the radio design. but that can be fixed.

i love everything about 'Stangs, the new and the old . with the latest ones i love how they've brought back some very noticeable oldschool in the design.

The car is beatiful from the outside, ill agree with airencrackin the interior is cheap. The automatic shifter scared me its about 10" wide, and its made of plastic...

:stupid: I like my cars to last longer than the warranty.
BTW: What is the deal with the gigantic fog lights that Ford, Mazda, and Subaru are pushing?

It's really ironic. I went to a rod show in Freehold this evening and a dealer was there who had a yellow GT with the larger diameter wheels and lower body mouldings. It was the first GT I had seen in real life.
The dealer claimed that he can no longer order any new Mustangs, because they either stopped building them or he filled his quota. He also stated that GT's had been hard to obtain.
I am going to eat my words already because I really liked the GT.

fog lamps are reminiscent of the older ones.
Saleen has a factory near me. its pretty cool. They had a parking lot full of stangs before they were released to the public. They make the ford gt there (not the mustang GT, the true GT). They usually have 3 or 4 in the front windows being assembled. The front lobby typically has a few GT's, a saleen mustang or too, and a saleen focus in it.
Why would anyone want the auto? 5 speed is teh way to go.
I am torn between the legandary lime and the dark silver. I had a ranger in that silver, so i dont want it because of that, however, it has more attitude than the green.

5 speed? I would have thought 6 speed. Lime is the coolest!

I thought that the new 3 looks good. I thought the opposite about the interior. When I went to test drive it, I drove up in a new (rental) 6cyl mustang (which has crappy interior).
But I am biased, because I bought a new 3 and I pick it up in Munich, Germany in 28 days....
The mustang GT is sooooo much better then the 6 cyl. I am very excited to see the Shelby.

Heh...I'm probably biased as well. I prefer the e46 style, and I like the ergonomics of the e46 over the e90. I liked the "cockpit" style dashboard cant, etc. that has been flattened on the new 3. The new 3 just seems like a mini 5 series instead of its own animal. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a great car, and its performance numbers are much better than the older model. And the extra cupholders and rear AC vents are nice. I guess it will just take a while for the new design to grow on me. :)

i like how it looks and im not much of a mustang lover.
The last generation of mustangs were a dime a dozen (kinda like civics) but they were just ehhhh fugly.
the new one at least looks presentable
I like the exterior, but I hate the interior.
Like you, I was a bit underimpressed when I finally saw it in person
