John Dvorak from PcMagazine is even endorsing it now. It allows Computer to Computer calling for free and Computer to real phones for fixed rates. I am trying to talk my friend into using it.

I've never tried it, but my Mom uses it all the time for international calls - mainly between US & Australia and US & UK. She loves it.

I like it - I use it to talk to my friend in New Zealand, and my cousin in Taiwan.

I use it between norway and usa and Uk and usa. It is very easy to set up and sometimes better than a phone connection. And best of all if both have a broadband connection it is free!!!

I've used it to talk to my sister-in-law in singapore. It can be better than a cell phone at times...
My question is: how do you pronounce "skype"? I say "sky-pee", (two syllables), she says it as one syllable. (Like "skipe" with a long "i".)

Yep. I even got my parents to load it up on their Mac.
When I talk to them, it sounds like I'm sitting right next to them.

Yeah.. its Very Clear.. and So much cheaper than Long distance.. and if people have a computer.. and broadband.. there is no reason not to sign up and use it when you feel like it .. Even if you have to call someone for 1 minute to get them to turn it on.. Well worth it in my book.

The pictures of the circuit board for the cordless phone: Did the guy solder the red and green wires to the board or some other method? Also I am having a hard time seeing where he attached the black wires.

I am trying to learn more about skype because it sounds like it could be pretty awesome. Johnny did you end up using it yourself? Anyone else using it now?

No, my friend has dial up and Windows 98. It wouldn't be a very good match.

I personally like google talk better. I've used both, and I think that google talk xfers packets better for voip. google talk lacks functionablity tho. Skype can do computer to phone calls, while google talk can only do computer to computer calls.
