but if you are lucky enough to have your father give him a call or if you are lucky enough to have him nearby, give him a hug.
i asked a guy who had never hugged his Dad to do this for me on this very date last year, and after i explained why, he agreed. he did it, and his Dad just looked at him like he had went off the deep end. :P he told his Dad he just felt like hugging him. now the best part is he told me he hugs his Dad every time he sees him, and his Dad is very receptive. :)
those are his hugs and my borrowed hugs.
why did i ask him to hug his Dad on this date a year ago today? because 3 years ago today i lost my Dad to cancer and i can't hug him anymore, and i miss that/him so much.
so if you are lucky enough to have your Dad around give him a hug for me.

So what day is actually "Father's Day" this year?
BTW... my Father passed away when I was 16... and I sure do miss him.

My Dad and I have been known to war with each other over the years, but I love him. I am glad that I got to grow up and realize how much he means to me. I wont hug my Dad today, but I think I will on fathers day.
My condolences to those who lost their Dad's and thanks all for sharing.

:stupid:
my dad and I used to verbally fight a lot but about 5 years ago we reconciled all that and now he means the world to me. i tell my parents i love them everytime I talk to them and I hug my parents every morning when I am home. nothing beats that.

I lost my dad in Dec of '03. My promise to him was whenever I see someone wearing a WWII hat, pin whatever I would give them a hug because I couldn't hug my Dad  My best friend thinks I'm nuts but I have gotten some great smiles and hugs in return. It's never to late to say thank you. Btw, my dad served in the USN for 30 yrs and saw service in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
I'm sorry for those who've lost their fathers. I caught myself picking up the phone to call my mom yesterday. It hurt so badly when I realized what I was doing.
