or should I say Trisha is getting Married?
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Garth Brooks stole the show Wednesday night when he got down on one knee in front of 7,000 fans and proposed to fellow country music star Trisha Yearwood.
She said yes — and the crowd went wild.
The occasion was the "Legends in Bronze" event at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, where 10 larger-than-life bronze statues honoring country stars were unveiled, including one of Brooks.
After his big moment, Brooks popped the question.
The marriage will be the second for Brooks, who has three children, and the third for Yearwood, said Brooks' spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer.
Brooks, 43, is credited with widening the genre's appeal in the 1990s by merging traditional country with honky tonk, pop, folk and rock. His "Ropin' the Wind" album was the first such country recording to debut at the top of the pop music charts. His latest album, "Scarecrow," went triple platinum.
Yearwood, 40, was named the Country Music Awards female vocalist of the year in 1997 and 1998. Her latest album is "Jasper County."
Other musicians honored with bronze statues were Buck Owens, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, George Jones and George Strait.

He left his wife..he left his kids....
she's been married twice before...
is it money? or is it fame? I hope his wife nailed him to the wall with alimony and child support..I used to like Garth, but not since he dicked out on his family.

I think it was really smart of them to wait 2+ years after his divorce to get engaged. It makes me think that they have really thought it out and have a good chance of making it work. I was upset when he retired and took her with him  but she is getting ready to tour and all is good to go.
:woohoo: :woohoo:

He retired first. Then he left his wife. But the retirement was so when they divorced he could spend as much time as possible with his kids. The divorce was in 2000. Thats five years he has raised his kids and put his life on the back burner. I think every one deserves to be happy. I am sure his children aren't suffering. Don't you think that the 5 year wait was to make sure that when they get married it will work out? This isn't Jennifer Lopez we are talking about. I am happy for them and I hope it works out because i think they are both decent people. Even good people have marriages that don't work. In his case I dont think fame or money had any thing to do with it. I think he was just married to the wrong woman the first time around. As for her, it is my feeling that her first 2 were substitutes for Garth. Pity for them.

Uh Oh! I'm screwed..lol
and hey RiverW...wrong woman first time around? he should have thought about that before he got her knocked up three times..he's a player, with alot of dough-he can do what he wants..no one will remember his first wife because she wasn't in the spotlight and will fade off into the sunset, but everyone will remember that he will be married to Yearwood...because that's a huge cash cow waiting to happen.

Garth Brooks was one of my all time favorite performers....until he divorced his wife for Trisha Yearwood. Garth just proved that even country singers can be trash.

Well I havent read up on the whole story.... so if he cheated on his wife with Trisha First.. then thats a bit of a different story.. but if he just left her.... Oh well. Im sure she got loot from the Divorce.. and I dont think he left his Kids High and dry..

From different articles I have read, Sandy his 1st wife didn't want to be in the limelight. That was part of the problem. She wanted to sit home and gel. Even though she knew what he wanted to do with his life. She knew this before they ever married and chose to go along for the ride. I don't believe he is a philanderer. I just think they got married young and had kids then drifted apart. If he was the lowlife you make him to be, he would have hit the road and told her to talk to his lawyer. And that is as far from what happened as the Raiders are from being classy!

There had been many rumors about Trisha and Garth, before he was even divorced. That is sort of incriminating. Either way, he will never hold the position of status that he once held.....in my eyes anyway.

yeh we all heard and read the same rumors....he's not the good ol' boy he started out as..and SO WHAT if his wife didn't want to be in the limelight-she was content to stay home and be a mom to her kids, that he saddled her with while he was off ropin the wind and puttin the moves on married cowgirls..apparently, you can have kids if you are famous, but you just can't take care of them yourself..

Just from your verbage I can tell you don't like Garth. Maybe you never did, don't know. So for the sake of peace and harmony, I guess we should just agree to disagree. :wavey2:
