i don't really know much about notebooks...but since i'm always on the go now i'm planning to get one. I've looked into dell since they have great deals on theirs all the time. how does everyone feel about the Inspiron 6000?

Depends on what you want...do you want a desktop replacement? Do you want a multimedia machine? Do you want an ultraportable to complement your desktop rig?

Inspiron 6000 is perfect then. I had the equivalent (8600, 15.4" widescreen with 128MB Radeon 9600) as my last notebook.

The 6000 is the perfect balance of weight, thickness, and performance. Go for it

I just picked up a 6000 a few weeks ago - it's a great little machine. Keep an eye on the refurb site - I was able to grab one from there for $450 when they had a bunch of promotions all hitting at once.

I bought an i6000 (Pentium M 730 - 1.6Ghz) for my uncle last time Dell had the $750 off $1499 and he's happy with it. It's a pretty nice big screen laptop but it's not as heavy as a desktop replacement one. The i6000 is perfect for you.
