I drove it for the first time this weekend, and it rides great, but I hated it. It has been way over-engineered.

For reference, I am 5'11" and I had the seat all the way down while driving, and I hated the viewing angle. Visibility is very limited due to a reduced windshield size, increased rake, and longer dashboard. This Jeep was obviously made for short old ladies.

I also just dont like the exterior as much as 2000-2003. The new one is very generic and overly square in places where it was a little curvy before. Jeep is going overboard to meet European safety standards and make the Jeep look like other american cars that are currently on the market.

I think Jeep is in danger of losing it's identity unless they get those new cars to market as seen in car show test mode

Well... go buy a Dodge Durango then. :D

So you can still get "HEMI" power in an SUV. :heh:

If you must drive a beast of a car, why not get an Escape Hybrid. I dislike SUVs they have no purpose compared to a car that can do the same thing, take you too and from work. Maybe you would be more likely to toe something with your HEMI, but what is the percentange that do?!

I think the new jeep looks silly.

They're coming out with a SRT version.

I'm with you..not too fond of the new style. I have an 04 and like it just fine.
The new ones have actually lost ground clearance. I'm one of the few GC owners who actually take theirs off road!

I drove one of the 04's all over Oklahoma and Texas.. as a rental.. That wasnt too bad.. I am with you on the Body Style.. I think its trying to much to be like the Big Esuvee's.. Like Escalade etc. the rounder style was much more appealing.

I had this mindset too, but you go to the south and they will bite your head off when you bother them about why they drive full size V8+ trucks with terrible gas mileage. I found out that people in these rural areas *actually* use the truck bed and haul 5000 to 10,000 lb things behind it. Needless to say I realized that my notion of ALL people who get trucks are for show was torn down... :heh:

Yeah.. some people dont just wanna be "Cool" .. :) thats just all the trucks in California.. hahaha.. But I do see a lot of people that don't do a whole lot minus go back and forth to work.. which is a big waste of money. (and supports terrorism!!) hehe

i was looking at the 2005 Cherokee the other day and it hit me that from the side profile they are going after the style of a Land Rover Sport.
