I just got a Zen Micro 5 GB for my birthday and I am very happy with it. I, too, hate iPods. Perhaps their Zen Touch 20 GB (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00028DJTY/ref=pd_cps_e_3/103-4241822-0299858?v=glance&s=electronics) is worth a look. The reviews seem to be pretty high on it.
Also, check out mp3.com's reviews. (http://www.mp3.com/tech/top_harddrive_1.php)

I was actually disappointed with my zen touch compared to the original zen. They dumbed it down to appeal to the ipod crowd. Never-the-less the sound quality is amazing, and it has an insanely long battery life (with heavy use i usually charge once every 3-4 days, with normal use, once a week)

I have an older iRiver IHP-120 and absolutely love it -- great sound quality, average battery life, and it does function as an external hard drive (something I believe the Creative units do not do without additional software.
I also have a hatred for Creative, so I myself cannot recommend them much anymore (but to each his own -- if you have a Creative player and love it, by all means let us know).

I have an Ipod, I cringed at the thought at first, but I have grown quite fond of it. Itunes is really a great program and I admire it quite a bit.
I have known people with DJ's, Creative, and Iriver, and none of them can really match the quality.
I have been been thinking of getting a Mac Mini...don't tell ribitch...
iRiver's don't need any drivers. Hook it up to any computer right out of the box and drag & drop files. Main reason I chose the H320 over the iPod (freemp3players.com). Color screen and longer battery life didn't hurt it either :heh:
In stock, $299.95 (http://www2.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?ref=pricegrabber&sku=IRH320). Best Buy had 'em for $270 a while ago, you can probably find it cheaper, just my quick search :thumb:

I'm not using my anti-Creative bias on this one, but I'll believe it when I see it. This has been promised ever since the Zen Xtra came out, and we have yet to see it. Check out the forums on www.nomadness.net and you probably will see that topic pop up quite often.

i've been a member of the nomadness forums for a couple years now. Reason i brought it up is because one of the members works at creative and mentioned that they will be releasing it soon.

My Zen Micro 5GB doesn't need any drivers to be used as an external HD. It shows up just like a USB key would. I realize it is different from the Touch 20GB, but it shouldn't be that different.
