Hey, I know it's been out for a while but I finally got around to listening to Kelly Clarkson's album and it's awesome. Lots of pretty good songs especially "behind these hazel eyes" and "Gone". I thought that Breakaway was pretty decent and bought the CD for that reason but IMO it isn't even one of the best songs in the CD. I'm not sure whether I now hate men or just wanna be a strong woman but overall very good CD.

The cd is pretty good, she has a ton of hits on it. I personally like "gone" as well.

I highly suggest that you look into the other songs on her album. I got interested in her because I heard "breakaway" on the radio and was very pleasantly surprised when I heard the rest of her album.

I'm a true believer that there is still good pop out there to listen to, but after checking out her album, I got the impression that she trying too hard to be "hard rocker." The music and her voice are too angry and loud to be pop!!

Are you referring to breakaway or thankful? I'm not as fond of thankful (there are a couple of cute songs like "low" but overall nowhere near as good as breakaway) but in breakaway there were some songs like "gone", "since you've been gone", where it got louder but IMO still pop. Also her voice isn't really hard enough to do rock songs well. I mean she does try to get that "strong woman" feel in some of her songs (with varied success IMO) but her voice just doesn't lend itself very well to being a rocker. The couple of songs where she tried I didn't really like. But there is definitely some awesome pop in this CD.

Breakaway - Definitely a pop song. Pretty good IMO but nothing really special. Not rock music, voice not hard.

Since you've been gone - Not a bad song but not very good IMO although it does get a lot of radio play. It has more of a rock feel music wise but her voice doesn't get hard in it despite her volume going up.

Behind these hazel eyes - I really like this song, it's just awesome. The volume is up but I wouldn't really call the music rock and her voice definitely doesn't get hard. Definitely not rock music.

Because of you - IMO awesome sad ballad. Kinda low keyed so I didn't think too much of it the first time I heard it but it's quickly becoming one of my favorite songs on this album

Gone - This kind of has more of a rock sound I guess... Her voice starts off a little hard initially but the chorus doesn't have her voice very hard (I probably would've preferred it if it was harder in the chorus). It's supposed to be a strong song though... I mean she's telling someone to f@#k off so it wouldn't really fit if she made her voice really cutesy. I really like it though.

Addicted - Not a very good song IMO and it is kinda like a rock song but IMO it could be made into a good rock or alt. rock song if someone else sang it. Her voice just doesn't lend itself to this type of song... not enough bite in her voice for it.

Where is your heart - Cutesy pop song. Doesn't really fit with the strong woman vibe of this album and most people probably won't like it but I really like it. It's a cute ballad.

Walk away - This is kind of a wanna be rock song but I'm not sure that I would count this as rock. Not a very good song because I don't like her voice with this song but with the right voice it can be an ok song. It's more the kind of a song I can hear the Back Street Boys singing.

You found me - Same thing. It's probably an ok song but I don't like where she took this song. I think this song would be better if an alt. rock band played it.

I hate myself for losing you - This does sound more like a rock song. I don't like the way the song sounds... darn shame because I like the lyrics. It just doesn't sound really good to me though.

Hear me - Ok song but nothing special. Definitely not a rock feel.

Beautiful disaster - It's a pretty ballad but nothing special. Definitely not a rock feel though.

OK got your point!!! :heh:
I guess I was just expecting more Britney-ish "bubble-pop." But then again Clarkson has a powerful soul/R&B-ish voice (a la Whitney Houston) which would be a waste singing bubble pop. She's definitely doing what she's best at. Great singer no doubt!

Kelly Clarkson is the only Idol winner with any talent.
Well, Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice were pretty good too. It's funny how you don't hear squat about the other winners...Clay Aiken's released more songs than Reuben Stoddard and where is Fantasia...?

Anyway, both of Kelly's cds are good IMO.

I dunno... I really liked Breakaway but from what I've heard of it so far I'm probably not going to bother buying Thankful.
