Going with my recent trend of making polls...

Who do you think makes the best mice? Logitech, Microsoft, or other?

I've had a kensington...broke after 3 months. terrible. My favorite so far however is the Intellimouse Opitical just because the foward and back buttons are not on the same side like the Logitech MX310.

Every mouse I've ever purchased for one of my computers has been a Logitech with the exception of a bluetooth Apple mouse for when I have my PowerBook on the road. This dates back to 1989.

I can't find a picture of my first mouse, but it was wedge shaped and beige with two grey buttons. Here is my SECOND mouse though:

I like them on the same side: otherwise I get alot of accidental pinky clicks.

Logitech for me... They just feel right and give you plenty of flexiblility to do what you want to do.

Logitech even help me put down the Razor Boomslang that I loved... :D

I have the Logitech MX700 & love it. Love the button placement, use all of them regularly. It actually fits my hand, which is hard to do because my hands are so small. I doubt I'll go back to Microsoft.

I've never been fond of Logitech's software, but their mice are GREAT!! Got an wireless MX-1000 for my son to game with. Fantastic mouse.

My first mouse was a Mouse Systems Optical Mouse - way back in 1985. Came with a special metal mouse pad that had red & blue lines on it. Worked much better than the ball mice of the day.

I think both have their good points but Logitech wins due to comfort and ergonomics.
I love my Intellimouse Optical but since buying an MX518 I am once again a Logitech fan...I will get more use out of the custom dpi setting doing graphic design work, but the times that I do play games I'm sure I will love it even more.

I've noticed glitchy problems with the two Microsoft optical mice I've owned; the Intellimouse w/Intellieye had moments where it would just glitch out and start moving all over the place (and got me killed a lot in TFC) and my Intellimouse Optical every once in a while (mainly when there are full moons...hmm) skips around every so often and also the scroll wheel flips out and my browser starts wiggin' out really bad.

Microsoft makes decent mice; I'll NEVER part with my Natural Keyboard Pro and if I have to spend the rest of my life paying out the arse for them on eBay, I'll do it. But with my MX518, I've finally got a comfy ergonomic mouse to go with my comfy ergonomic keyboard. :thumb:

22-3...

wow...that's impressive.

I have to go with logitech as well. I have a MX510, 2 basic logitech optical mice, logitech's notebook optical mouse, and Logitech's BT mouse. I do have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, but that mouse looks and feels like crap.

I have the MX900 Bluetooth mouse. It's 1.5 years old, and still running great.

I bought an ioconcepts optical mouse from OfficeMax for $7 and that also works well, although feels cheap. Would NOT recommend any other ioconcepts products, expecially keyboards!

I'm very biased towards the MS Intellimouse Explorer, so I haven't even tried any others. It fits my hand very well, and now I find that I can't get by without the extra two buttons on the side - I use them for forward & back in IE. I can't use a cordless because it won't work with my KVM, so the Intellimouse Explorer it is.

As much as I DESPISE Micro$haft... I'll admit that I absolutely love my 5-button optical MS mouse.
I've had some issues with wear and tear on the mouse which were in face covered under warranty on the mouse.. but by the time I fished out everything to go get it fixed, things just worked themselves out again. (kinda like rebooting windows back in the win95/3.1 days)
I'll keep the mouse until I can no longer repair it.. it fits perfectly to my hand, and perfect positioning of all the buttons for a true FP-Shooter like myself :)

i just have a feeling that logitech has better technology. i really want to get the V500 laptop mouse as it doesn't use a traditional scroll-wheel, but a touch-sensitive scroll. that sounds so cool and i hear it works really well.

I always feel MS mouse is more comfortable with my big hand. :) Same thing applies to their nature split keyboard.

I love my MS intellimouse explorer. Plus when it starts to get dirty, just fax a copy of the bottom to MS and they send you a new one!

I have 3 MX510's. I love the back and forward buttons for the thumb. I can't do without them, so I bought one for work as well. They work well for the FPS games as well. Haven't used many of the M$ mice, but don't like the feel of most of them. I have large hands and all the M$ mice seem too small. Even the 510 is a little small, and that's a big mouse. You could almost call it a rat.

I have used many MS and Logitech mice over the years. The trend that has been in the past is that MS has been the leader in the evolution of the mouse with innovations like the scroll wheel, optical, the back and forward buttons for browsing and now the side scroll tilt. For those reasons I brought MS Mice. Logitech has always built the higher quality mouse. The button clicks feel solid and they don't break. People have complained about the drivers for Logitech. The only issue I had with them was with the scroll wheel. For the first couple of years their scroll wheel wouldn't work properly with some programs and most games, but that problem has been resolved years ago. With that said I always find myself going back to Logitech. Right now I use the MX510 and love it.

In many cases... changing the Logitech mouse setting of the wheel button to "Middle button" will solve some of those wheel problems.

I had similar problems a long time ago and that fixed it for me. :D

I have yet to decide... hmm well i'm getting the mx3100 keyboard with i think the mx1000 combo, so that will probly help me in my decision. I'll tell you guys when to change my vote. right now I'm liking the standard flat, light, dell usb optical mouse. this mouse M/N: M-UVDEL1 promotes my soring 3:1 ratio in counter-strike and I havent used a better mouse.

mouses i've used: BFG boomslang 2100, mx500, microsoft inteli, sony ball mouse (from yr.2001 which i love also.) mx518

and the dell still tops them for me. (i have no idea why...)

BTW... Dell doesn't make mice. The buy them from Microsoft, Logitech, or some other manufacturer and rebadge them with the Dell name.

So that being the case... is yours based off of MS or Logitech design? :D

(Do you have a link to your mouse on their site? )

I know I am bucking the trend a bit, but I like the fit/feel of a Microsoft mouse better.

Really when we get down to it - you can't go wrong either way, and personal fit/feel will vary depending on hand size, etc.

Meanwhile I am looking at my Dell branded wireless mouse, and wondering who made the thing! It was part of their wireless keyboard/mouse set - anyone know who the real brand is???

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Our school uses dells and the mice have Logitech™ on the underside, but this one didn't for some reason, It has dell markings, and I previously stated the model#M-UVDEL1
I found this (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=23156&item=5209749027&rd=1) one on ebay, it looks the same as mine except the model# is different. Its definitely not Microsoft’s design
