Hi all,

Looking for a gaming pad for my optical mouse. Any recommendation?

IMHO I think the cloth topped mouse pads (the regular old style ones) are the best for any kind of mouse. I've tried using the plastic topped ones and I've had problems with optical mice skipping around. A lot of people swear by the "specially made" pads made for gamers etc., I don't know anything about them other than they're pricey (as far as a mouse pad is concerned).

I have a cloth topped one that has a Lord of the Rings print on it. No, I'm not a crazed LotR fanboy, it's just what my wife bought me as a surprise gift awhile back. :) She wouldn't buy me a Spongebob one like I would've wanted cause she hates Spongebob. Me - I think Spongebob is hilarious. :hihi: Yes, a 27 year old man just said Spongebob is hilarious...

For some reason I feel like the cloth topped pads have the best tracking ability and I feel like the mouse moves the smoothest on them. Maybe it's cause I've used them my whole life; I dunno. They're also comfy for your arm/hand because of the foam.

I vote for a cloth one...(I think it's actually felt but I have no clue.) :thumb:

Honestly, with a good optical mouse, you really don't need a mouse pad (if your table isn't glass or of a uniform color/texture).

But some folks like the "feel" of being on a pad... and in that case I'd just say go for whatever is comfortable to you. :D (like the ones that have a wrist cushion).
