I recently got a g5 shuttle (black) with 939 3500+ cpu
and seems like my 8mb buffered maxtor hdd gets really really hot.. .
is there any way to cool down my shuttle... and perhaps does anyone know a solid hdd which doesn't generate much heat? (i'm looking for something more than 80 Gig of hdd space)

Sorry no one responded yet...
Anyway, I'll throw in my $0.02.
Realize that all 7200rpm drives get hot, due to they speed.
Since your case is tiny, heat will pile up easily. Your best bet is to install a better cooling fan in the rear of the case, vantec, zalman, and Panaflo make excellent fans that either:
1. are silent and work well
2. move A LOT of air and are not silent, but not bad.
I suggest you go with #2, since you need to cool your harddrives.
Also, make sure the air entering your case, enters near your hard drives. You may want to drill some holes (but remove all your components first)
Lastly, you may want to use small, rounded HD/floppy cables, as flat cables tend to block air, unless they are moved out of the way.

so seems like it's pretty normal to have a shuttle system which heats up a lot...

if the case has 2 5.25 bays, you could install a hard drive cooler
