I have:
EP-9nda3J (epox nvidia 3 ultra board)
REtail amd64 3500+
Corsair 512*2 = 1 gig
500W psu
-----------------------------------
I first install the windows, then directx, nforce drivers, then nvidia video drivers,
then i run warcraft 3, and the game looks all wacked up
I then uninstall the GART driver, and the game seems to work fine initially
then once I go on line to play and whenever there's heavy load of graphics at once, my game freezes for a few seconds and resumes at a super fast speed for a few seconds then comes back to normal again (this repeats many times throughout the game )
also, i noticed as i was working on a video, the preview shown via windows media player sometimes freezes as well and at times my screen goes completely blank for a second and comes back to windows.
-----------------------------------------
before i called bfg tech (the videocard company) , I tried using the video card on my wife's shuttle... and it worked fine. Even the games didn't lag.
I checked the nvidia drivers on the shuttle and it's unclear (probably because it may be older nvidia drivers) whether it had GART driver installed or not.
after calling bfg, they suggested a few things like
1. uninstall/ reinstalling both GART driver and the video driver...
2. check the pci irq setttings and see if the videocard is sharing an irq with something else (which it did, and i fixed this)
3. try plugging the card on another computer (which I did and seemed to work fine)
----------------------------------------------
I'm wondering if my problem occurs in nforce3 mobos (wife's shuttle had nforce2 mobo) only
I'm also guessing if it's got anything to do with nforce driver's PCI controller...
and the endless failure in relationship between the GART driver and the videocard...
I also tried playing Doom3 (and it seems to work ok but kept on freezing at times) and NBA live 2005 which force rebooted my computer during 4th quarter...
ANYONE HAVE ANY CLUE as to what I should do? ???? I'm so sad..
i spent gangload of money to upgrade to nforce3 and 3500+ cpu and i wish I could jusst go back to my older nforce2 with 2500+ haha... but this is so depressing for me...
sigh
