I change my oil every other month. I know what your thinking, too much, waste of $$. But my car will not engage into Vtec mode when the oil is nasty or low. My pan holds 4.5 i usually get 3.5 when i drain it. So its just nasty not burning up.
Oh I have a 1999 Acura Cl 2.3, 110k Miles, 5speed. Only mod is a intake, and other useless crap. my manual says to use 5-30, so i use 5-30. Mobil 5000 crap, and im barely getting 2000miles out of it.
What makes a cars oil become more sludgey than its supposed to? I drive like an Arab Taxi driver on Red Bull. Any suggestions?

:stupid: Change your air filter to a better filter. (I'd recommend a 2 stage sponge... but that's a different debate. :shifty:
Definitely get rid of any "open element" filters if that is what you are using... cause obviously, it ain't stoppin' the dirt from gettin' into your engine.

The filter is 6 months old, new from AEM..
Maybe ill put the stock back on for this oil cycle. See wat happens.. is that the usual suspect, or is there other things. Thanks im just trying to get some knowledge..

I don't think the filter is going to cause that much of a change unless you are driving it through a dust storm every day. I think MechMike could answer this question the best, though. :)

what type of oil filter are you using??? maybe one with a finer screen might help.
you may also want to consider some sort of engine oil flush kit, you may be changing the oil but there is still residual sludge left in the engine after the change.

Check your PCV system or have it checked by a good aftermarket Honda/Acura specialist, particularly if you have an aftermarket intake.
In short, engine vacuum is used to draw crankcase vapors out through the PCV valve. Fresh air has to be let back in to replace what is being drawn out. If the fresh air hose is disconnected (because of the aftermarket cold air intake) it may be drawing dirty unfiltered air (or no air at all if it was blocked off) into the crankcase.
The PCV system may also be sludged up or not working at all, which will contaminate the oil rather quickly.
This link shows a Toyota PCV system, but your Acura will be similar. Read the link, and you'll get the idea.
Don't do an oil flush. They're useless and can even be dangerous. They are not recommended by any manufacturer that I am aware of.
