Dude! Was that fake? If so, that guy that got beat threw some weird and weak punches. I thought it was going to be like some funky TV commercial until I realized they were cussing.
Pretty funny though. I like how no one knew how to react when he first got into his stance.
Though I suspect that was it, I wanted to see how it went on, to see how it ended.

Hilarious, typical high school stuff. I like how the one kid kept having to pull his pants up... :ptlaugh:

That was a fight? Where are the visuals of the punk flying through the air and dropping from 4' high with onto the pavement below? Where are the blood-curdling screams of the punk getting his arm dislocated or broken? Oh sorry... I was having a Judo daydream of how I would have handled that (I probably would have let him off easy though). Revil might understand...

My girl will learn Hapkido so she could break some arms and legs. :P
Anyway I thought the guy who showed all the moves would get knock out instead.

Im guessing real

Well most people dont know how to fight or throw a punch. Especially in HS when its mostly just threats.
Though I suspect that was it, I wanted to see how it went on, to see how it ended.
Most fights end with one punch. The kid got his ass knocked down...hed be stupid to continue.

It was funny that they threw all those punches before that guy landed his forearm on the other dude's face =P

Not real pretty. And it didn't even look like a good punch that landed. I'm not a big fan of Kung Fu but against those crazy haymakers just about any art would work nicely.

Aikido yields those results as well. :bandit:

He did a good job of redirecting the dude's hits, but that last punch looked a bit hokey. Looked more like a fisted slap than a good hook.

I thought the point of Aikido was to NOT hurt your opponent.

There are quite a few arresting techniques that don't result in permanent damage but many more that result your opponent's destruction.

No, the point of Aikido is not to be the aggressor, but when attacked, you can pretty much wipe the floor with your opponent. My dad was a San Dan (3rd degree blackbelt) in Aikido. At that level, they have weapons training as well.

That's the point of judo.

The place where I train does a lot of weapons training. Bo (6 ft staff) and jo (3 ft staff) get used on occasion and tanto (knife fighting) gets used quite a bit. Everyone seems to love the knife fighting. We also do sword, but there is so much of it that it gets its own class. That too is quite a bit of fun.
And back to the point of Aiki....it is really about blending energy and being appropriate to the situation. So in some circumstances it is okay to attack.

Right. I'm not confusing the two.

What is Aikido? Aikido is a Japanese martial art derived from Daito Ryu Aiki-jujitsu. It was developed by Sensei Morihei Ueshiba. Ueshiba Sensei was born in 1883, and was by his 30's a stellar martial artist, holding instructor ranks in several schools of jujitsu. In his later days, however, he realized that the Japanese martial arts could be used to instruct people in the ways of peace and tolerance, rather than violence and submission. Being a devotee of the Omoto religion, which is totally pacifistic, he created in Aikido a purely self-defensive martial art. In using it to defend one's self, one is not to do to the attacker whatever one pleases. The presumption is that the attacker is not a bad person to whom anything can be done, but, rather, is a soul who has wandered from The Way. It is the duty of the Aikido practitioner to subdue the attacker without harming him, and to help the attacker back along the True Path.

What I study is much closer to Daito Ryu than most modern Aiki. Much more in the Takeda tradition. Technically it is Aikibutjutsu but most are not familiar with that. It is easier simply to say Aikido. But yes, there are some differences. The older style it much tougher on your opponent.
Do you want to know more? (http://www.aiki-buken.com/)

I'll agree to that. Most people don't know what Aikijujitsu is (or any of the parent arts.)
Kudos to you for studying that. I have a lot of respect for the older japanese "jutsu" arts.
