Ok... a few questions for clarification sake:
1. When is her b-day...how much time do you have?
2. What are her interests?
3. What is your price range?
4. Do you have siblings? What is the age range?
5. What kind of work does she do?
I ask these questions because I am a 41 yr old mom and I may have some insight...and yes, I just had a b-day on Monday.
Let me know....

Hi.
Thanks for answering my questions. Actually siblings helps me alot. I have 4 boys and 2 girls and sometimes they try to out-gift each other or even copy each other. I was just checking to see what the situation was. That always makes me uncomfortable and VERY unhappy.
Some moms are always listening to music. If you were to get her a favorite cd/tape she can play it at home or in the car. That is pretty moderately priced. You can add other items to the gift bag...Sees Candy gift certificates, lunch/dinner certificates (Rubios, La Salsa, nice restaurant). Or you can just buy a lb. of her favorite chocolate.
A magazine subscription ... probably around $25-40 for a year. Gardening, Martha Stewart, Reader's Digest, Sunset....
Bubble baths/lotions at The Body Shop. Great products w/ wonderful scents.
I really like their hand lotion "Look Ma New Hands". Love IT!!
Your mom might want to have a day out with you. Take her out... whatever you two like to do. Or something you've always wanted to do w/ her. Go ice/rollerskating. (Just make sure you have her $50 copay for the emergency visit when she breaks her arm...LOL!)
Does she have a secret passion but has never had time or the guts to get started...always wanted to draw? (get art supplies at your local craft store...sketch pad, prismacolor pencils, charcoal pencils, paints...you get the idea), always wanted to take dancing lessons? horeback riding lessons...?
Get her a digital camera...
There are some fancy restaurants where the chef has cooking classes. (Here in San Diego, California we have a few places: Voila, Sam the Cooking Guy) It's about $45 per class and they get a full meal cooked and instructed by a chef. (I have two certs and really can't wait for 'mom-time' in which to use them.)
That's all I can think of right now...I'll keep thinking and try again soon.
Have a fun time on Friday!!
P.S. Tell us what you get her. I'm sure she'll love what ever you do.

:wavey: me, I'm the one who said it's cheating, it's me!
it's not like you're buying it for her, she bought it already and you're just giving her the money back :P

i say it works! At least your mom takes your presents. Haha. My brother and I (actually, just my brother, but it sounds better to include myself) bought my mom a purse, and then she proceeded to regift it to someone else. Nice, thanks mom.

It's even worse when Mom regifts it right back to me. That has happened sooo many times it isn't even funny anymore. Sometimes she'll keep part of the gift and give back the rest. :boxing:
