Was it my imagination or did the prices increase by about $400 right before the sale? For example early this AM the 700m was $1477, then right before the sale it went to $1855. No config. differences that I can see.

Reminds me of grocery store tactics.

They always do that. My brother was looking at the 700m and he complained about the exact same thing.

You have to realize the $1477 prices were after their discounts for that day. It goes up to the retail/original price for these coupons.

What would be the point of previewing anything then? We all know what kind of systems they have. It only serves to mislead people IMO.

If it is too good to be true...

I could have sworm that the previewed prices were the higher ones that exist today for the coupon...I could be wrong.

It's not too good to be true, but you're not getting a deal of a lifetime, especially when this isn't the first time they've done it.

Dell wants to make a profit.. Just think of the people that don't look around for deal sites.. and they pay the full priced higher one :)

I disagree. I'd much rather take the 750 off regular retail discount over some percentage off during one of their "regular sales." It's a deal because you're saving more money than you typically would have had you bought it normally. Plus when you "preview" it generally shows the retail price lined off and shows the sale price - so you would have an idea as to which figure to deduct 750 from.

They always do that... Dell rarely sells stuff at retail cost. If you buy a Dell at the 'list cost', you're either in a great big hurry or you just don't care too much about your money.

They $750 discount is off of the LIST PRICE, not off the already discounted price they normally sell at. They're not *adding* anything to the cost - you're getting a $750 discount rather than a $400 discount. Now if it was really supposed to be an $1150 discount, then yeah, I'd be excited about that, too. But I doubt Dell can sell too many machines for less than it costs to make them. Plus, don't you think they would call it '$1150 off' rather than '$750 off'?
