View Full Version : I can't sleep
It's past 4am here and I have to wake up at 7am to get reay for class, leaving me with 2:XX hours of sleep. That's ASSUMING I fall asleep in the next hour.
Is it pointless to try to sleep?
I've been up this late the past 2 nights I think because of a wedding I went to Saturday. It was the first wedding I have ever been to, and the whole thing was such a powerful experience I can't stop thinking about it. :\

You should join us insomniacs here (http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?p=879067#post879067).
So the wedding was that powerful, huh? Makes you want to rush out and pop the question so you could have your own wedding?

A lot of it was imagining how my parents are going to feel when I dance with my mother, when my dad watches me say I do, etc. It's not so much that I want to have that ceremony for myself right away now... it's more of waiting till I find someone to want to be in it with :halo:
Nothing wrong with thinking about that commitment and your future. I think many of us are nearing that age where we start wondering where we're headed with ourselves. I know I'm one of those people =D
To answer your question, even though I don't sleep much (mild case of insomnia), if you are only going to have 3 hours of sleep don't even bother sleeping. You'll feel worse when you wake up than you would if you pulled the all-nighter.

Try Unisom of you have trouble sleeping. Been using it for years on weekday-nights, and it beats the heck out of Tylenol PM and the like.

Odd: TylenolPM the same active ingredient in the same quantity but with a mild pain reliever to relieve discomfort?

Nah...I think Unisom comes in a form that uses doxylamine instead of diphenhydramine (benadryl, also found in tylenol pm).

Usually if you are not going to get at least four hours sleep (required for REM), then a quick nap and then go to bed at your usual time the next night. If it goes on for several nights, then you have problems. Sleep aids may help you fall asleep, but it may not be as deep of a sleep so you may still feel tired the next day. Use them sparingly along with cafene and alcohol.

It was a 1990 TV movie based on the book by Stephen King.
Tagline: The Master of Horror unleashes everything you were ever afraid of.
Plot Outline: Seven youths have to defeat a demonic creature named Pennywise which dresses in a clown suit and terrorizes a 1960's town in Maine.
So, beware of clowns.
Bah, another sleepless night....
my final is Thursday at 5pm. Afterwards I plan on sleeping.

Turn the lights off and a radio on softly and just try to relax for a little bit. The radio helps distract your brain.
or you can log onto AIM and talk to meEEEEE!

Weird. Now I have to go and check mine to make sure it's got a different formula. I'll feel real stupid if it ain't. Do you have the little blue pill Unisoms?

If its a chronic problem...like I have...you can get a doctor to prescribe something like amitriptyline...works pretty good except for me it doesnt so much put me to sleep as it makes me sleep alot later the next day...so I can never take it when my kids are home.
Going on 4th night of no sleep tonight out of the past 5... but this time it's intentional. After 7pm Thursday, I don't have any commitments till Tuesday at 8am. I really hope to get back on track

The book was great.. but the tv movie was awful, it just didn't do it any justice. I used to be a huge King fan, and that book was one that really got to me.

I found the movie hysterical.. especially after watching it about 25 times with my kids. But really, you don't want that clown in your dreams. :puke:

Just posting because it's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Ski? got nyquil?
My overexcitement for the night came when I saw a mouse squeeze underneath my bedroom door and dart into the closet.
"No big deal," I thought, since I have 2 pet mice. "One of them probably escaped."
I go check on my mice to see which one it was, and low and behold, both of them were there. My heart raced. I found some boxes to make a barricade on my closet door. "I got you now!" I thought. I turned and picked up a shirt from the hamper to catch him with, and as I bent over, the little effer broke my barricade somehow and ran out, down the hall. I lost him.
I'm kind of scared to use a mousetrap, because I know I'll set it off on my finger :heh:
Anyway, night 7 out of 9 with no sleep... I'm not going to nap tomorrow, just going to get really tired and force myself back on sleeping at night (hopefully).

It also comes in the doxylamine formula. The capsules or gelcaps are diphenhydramine, and the tabs are doxylamine.

Which brings me to the lovely women I know in my life, I used to spring at an opportunity to "get some" but I got turned off when one offered a certain way to make me sleepy. 1) I realize how pathetic it is for her :heh: 2) It's just not fun when you know you're gonna get it. The openness of a couple girls I know has turned me completely away from physical stuff, it's disgusting. Think I like a woman to have more respect for herself than to be loosely giving away "favors" like that :shifty:
