Memory Question

If I have a Compaq with an Athlon XP CPU with 256MB of PC2700 DDR in it, can I just drop in a 512MB PC2700 DDR and expect all 768MB to work?

Because it is a Compaq and it might have "special RAM" requirements...

Honestly, with a Compaq, I'd recommend stopping by Crucial.com first and using their "compatibility check" to see what your PC requires (if there is a special requirement.)

If there is... buy from Crucial... they guarantee that it won't.

If there isn't... then you can try to buy something cheaper... however you can still buy the Crucial if you value their reliability. :D
