Don't know what all it included, but I did notice now that when I go to shut off my computer it gives me an option to install updates before shutting down and there is a new red shield logo on my shut computer down button on my screen, even if there aren't any updates.

I disable that as soon as I install Windows XP SP2.

After my computer decided to reboot on its own in the middle of the night several times, I learned to tell XP not to automatically download and install updates. (I think SP2 turned that back on.)

I didn't see the shield or message when I turned it off last night and only saw it the one time.

It shows up if either your firewall is off, your computer needs updates, or you do not have virus protection. It probably detected one of them late and then went away. It never detects Norton, so if it pops up you have to go into it and set the option that you have a Virus Checker and will monitor it on your own.

Scroll down to where it says "AUTOMATIC WINDOWS UPDATE INSTALLATION."

The whole article is good reading, though...
