DETROIT (Reuters) - DaimlerChrysler AG's U.S.-based Chrysler Group said Friday it will begin offering all customers the same steep vehicle discounts it gives employees, matching General Motors Corp.'s successful incentive program.
GM's "Employee Discount for Everyone" incentives program delivered blockbuster results for GM in June, with its U.S. sales jumping 41 percent over the same month last year.
"We are going to run a program beginning July 6 that has similar characteristics to the General Motors program," Gary Dilts, Chrysler's North American sales and marketing chief told reporters in a conference call.
Chrysler Group saw a thin 1 percent rise in U.S. sales in June.
