McDonald's uniforms getting hip help

Hip-hop moguls Russell Simmons and P. Diddy and fashion heavyweight Tommy Hilfiger are among the names being recruited to snazz up the land of the Golden Arches.

McDonalds is in early talks with the fashion and music masters to redesign the fast food giant's blah employee uniform into something resembling stylish urban streetwear.

"We’re looking at how do we make our uniforms more appealing, more desirable," Bill Lamar Jr., chief marketing officer for McDonald’s USA, said on AdAge.com. So far, the talks are "purely exploratory," he said.

McDonalds went straight to the A-listers. Simmons, whose labels include Phat Farm and Def Jam University, and P. Diddy, whose Sean John brand just expanded to include a women's line, are two of the most high profile designers of the sort of clothing with vast youth appeal. Hilfiger's designs have long been popular with hip-hop artists.

Also being considered to overhaul the current uniforms: Abercrombie & Fitch, Fubu and RocaWear.

A timetable for the change hasn't been announced yet.

No doubt. I dunno, does McDonald's really need hip hop outfits? Will that really bring in more business?

They need to say Mickey D's, arched, across the butt for the women.

They also need to make the back pockets large enough for two 3 year old children to fit into comfortably :heh:

Hey, why not just have Wu Wear do them? Flip that W upside down, and you're halfway there!

And dammit Itsme, post sources so that I know this article isn't from The Onion or something. :)
