Will DDR memory in a DDR2 memory slot?

This is a Dell Inspiron 6000 series and was wondering whether this will work.. I have 512mb DDR SODIMM and was wondering whether it will work in that.. THis is my friends laptop and he says, it uses DDR2 memory..

DDR1 memory will *NOT* work in a DDR2 slot.
