If you are willing to travel a bit. Come down to San Diego and go to Extraordinary Desserts (http://www.extraordinarydesserts.com/extraordinarydesserts/) . It is aptly named.

Does Brown's Ice Cream Sundaes still exist? I remember going there in Hollywood when I was a kid (I think it was very near Grauman's Chinese Theater at the time). You haven't had a hot fudge sundae until you've had one at Brown's. (Well, the Buffalo in Chicago, with their 36% butterfat whipped cream, was probably about as good, but it's gone now. :bawl: )

Most people I know like Coldstone Creamery. I'm not too big of a fan, but it's decent

You drive down to the Chart House off of PCH in Newport just south of the 55 and order yourself the Lava Cake. Mmmm good. Godiva chocolate baked and melted inside a nice chocolate cake topped with soft vanilla ice cream. Better than the gelato on brownie dessert I had at the California Grill up in Los Gatos.

Porto's produces excellent sourdough rounds. They have many fine pastries and desserts as well. An excellent choice! :)

thanks for all your suggestions
but i left the house around noon today.. so i didn't think i wanted to go all the way to S.D to get my sweets.

however this is what i went through today...
first stop.. Old Town Pasadena
its about 10 mins drive from my house.. and it was hot.. so i parked myself at the parking structure behind the Movie Theatre... Little did i know there was a Giradeli (forgot how to spell the name) which sold Chocalates.. and Ice-Cream thingies... Went inside... ordered me some Hot Fudge Sunday~~Hmmmmmm... Hot Fudge.....

after that.. I shopped around at the Apple Store.., Gap, JCrew.... then it was sweets time again... I was thinking to myself.. should I get my usual Cheese cake or something new...
while i was thinking i walked by MiPiaci...Hehee.. Lazy bum that I am.. i was too lazy to walk to the Cheese Cake Factory.. I asked the waitor to pick out any dessert that was popular. . so he got me a Creme Brule, and some tarts...

after finishing my "meal"... i figured.. I had ice cream, pudding (sorta), and tarts... i began to think... what other sweets are there..???? CHOCOLATE~~~
I went on the 210 East... exited Baldwin.. to go to the Santa Anita Mall, and bought myself some Dark Chocalate from Godiva... yummy....

Pigging it out as I type this post, of my satisfying day :)

If you are willing to travel a bit, there is this awesome place in the west Village here in NYC called Magnolia.

There is a choclate eatery in old town that you missed that is very good. Its on the north side of the street, about a block or two from where you were. Its just a little double door that opens to a downstairs little cafe. its like ghiradelli but they are more into just special chocolates and stuff.

Hey, for deserts as good as they make here, it's worth the hour and a half to two hour drive from LA to SD. I can't really say that about the drive to NYC. :spock:

...the cheese cake factory....
:stupid:Just what I was going to suggest. The choco-chip cookie dough cheesecake is my personal favorite there. And the whip cream they use is just plain wonderful.

Other ideas....if you pass a place called "Islands" (there are several) go in and have a Kona Pie. Quite good. California Pizza Kitchen (numerous locations) also serves a mean Key Lime Pie.

cookie prices have gone up to $0.35/each. but the ice cream sandwich is still $1. apparently, the cookies are smaller. but whatever. they still taste good. :)
