Samsung ML-1740: 'Sposed to be noisey?

I just installed my ML-1740. I guess this is fan cooled or something, because this printer is noisey-always whining. Is this normal?

No it isn't. I have the same one and the noise level is in line with most other laser printers.

After about 5 minutes, the printer seems to quiet down (in sleep mode?).

I just printed 4 pages from mine. Took maybe 2 minutes till it went into sleep mode, totally silent :thumb:

Check the power settings for standby / powersave. Most lasers (including the Samsung) allow you to adjust the time until they go to "sleep".

That's still one of the best bets in a basic laser today!
