Yeah, I think the pair of 4-Packs for 55,000 Couch Potato Points ($130 Value)is a much better "bargain" than 20,000 for just the single one day pass (~$25 Value).

I am not really into much of the fanfare, but I just heard that Charlize Theron (The Italian Job, Monster...) will be there Saturday. That may just be a good enough reason for me to go! Anyone know what time she's secheduled on Sat & if she'll be signing autographs?

Bendogg was asking about this...

11:45-12:45 Paramount Pictures Presents: Aeon Flux and War of the Worlds—Charlize Theron, who breathes life into the title character of MTV’s cutting edge animated series Aeon Flux in Paramount Pictures’ live-action sci-fi thriller, comes to Comic-Con for the first time to greet fans and participate in a Q&A, along with co-stars and filmmakers.
In the past sometimes actors will give autographs after the Q&A if there was still time. So maybe.

Comic-Con Report:

I got to the convention center at 10:15 and already the convention center parking garage was full. I went on to the new garage at the next block. Parking ther was $10. I ended up on level 6 of 7, and a few minutes later it was closed since it was full.

On the way to get in I passed the line for Hall H where Warner Brothers was having their event. That line was around the block...looked to be over an hour long...so I went into the rest of the convention.

It was interesting....amazing to see how popular comics and the like are in today's society. Not sure I wouyld go again, even with free tix.

Just one man's opinion.

It's only 40 bucks for all four days plus preview night if you buy before Aug. 7. You can easily replace that money by just getting an exclusive figure and sell it on EBay. Like this years Dark Phoenix. You buy it at 30 and re-sell it at 100+

It was great fun this year. I especially loved the Disney Princesses at the masquerade. WOW. Funny Funny.

I had a blast @ Comic-con on Saturday. I got so caught up in meeting everyone and getting autographs that I didn't make it downstairs until after 6pm for Mrs Charles Schultz's autograph. I got home around 9pm, my feet blistered, and slept until 5pm Sunday!! I don't know how anyone could do all 4 days (you could be a new superhero). And yes, I did get Ray Bradbury's autograph...I'm soooo happy and it was too cool meeting him.

Oh yeah..I told Margot Kidder to go to hell and everyone wanted my autograph....LMAO . Did any of you try to get an autograph from her or any of the Superman people? How rude they were! Margot Kidder is going " we had to pay our own ways here" and I said "so did we!" Anyways, I hear alot of people are writing to Comic-con about them refusing autographs and pictures unless you paid for it.
Next year? Depends on who is there. Sorry I didn't meet any of you

Paying for autographs is nothing new to this Trekkie. They've been charging for a long time now.

Not me though, I only get them if they're free! LOL

Thesifer
07-18-2005, 03:59 PM
The Sail Pavilion was required to be free.. unless you were paying for the Item they were signing. In the Exhibit hall .. they can charge whatever they want.. But they are still required to sign your "Program Guide" for free.. They also have a right in either place.. to refuse to sign something if they don't deem it worthy.. Like a bad picture of Margot Kidder ( Which there have to be tons of ) :) .. They put all of the "Signing rules" in the Program Guide.. I didn't get any autographs because it was such a pain in the butt. The 4400 Cast signed for 1 hour.. and 1 hour only. After that whoever was in line got Shafted. And I couldn't even find the Orson Scott Card line because they kept moving it, Although I did listen to him speak.

cadetevon
07-18-2005, 04:03 PM
Wow, that's all way more complicated than what goes on at Trek cons. LOL

There is what my sister and I call the 'pity room' where bit Trek actors sign for a fee (usually $5 or $10 bucks) for the photo and autograph.

Then there are the biggies like Patrick Stewart, Lenord Nemoy (sp?) and others, which can be very costly...upwards of $50 each. And you must provide the item to be signed! LOL

Trigun
07-18-2005, 05:11 PM
Autographs don't get me started.
My first one was from William Shatner way way back.
The most I have paid for one was for Mark Hamill (aka. Luke Skywalker) last year. $85.00x2 (Yes you did read correctly it is no typo :censored: ) But it was worth it. I gat him to sign me the only memorabilia worth signing, the double extended lightsaber Luke mint cond. on its original 1977 package. Plus the good part was that he wasn’t signing memorabilia that year, only the official photos.
What can I say; I'm a sucker for the stars.
I got signatures of all the Superman cast on an original un-opened first ed. DVD. I was amazed they didn’t open the seal or something. They were all great to me. I told them were I come from and they just could not shut up. Lucky for me there was nobody on the line. We all took pictures and they all gave me one personalized photo free. So I don't know crackerwagon, may be I gat them on a good mood or something.
Same thing with the Battle Star Galactica actor and Flash actor even hold my son over his shoulders for pictures.
I even was helping out Ray Park (aka. Darth Maul) on the Star Wars is Forever pavilion. He is supper a great person. I helped him out with some computer stuff last year and he remember my family.
And let me leave it here before I start with Stan Lee, Simpson’s creator, The Avatar writers….
So I don’t know maybe I’m lucky or something, but this year I had a blast. :wavey2:

crackerwagon
07-19-2005, 03:14 PM
thesifer..... yes, quit a few of us pointed the rules out to the Superman people but were told they had already told Comic-con of their decision. The people @ the comic-con info booth said they knew what was going on but couldn't do anything about it. So that is why people are contacting Comic-con, to protest changing the rules without telling anybody.
Trigun....you sure were lucky!!! I bet they thought you had paid the man..LOL. Now you know why there was NO line to them

Trigun
07-19-2005, 11:18 PM

I hope I can make it there on time after work so I can get Stan Lees autograph

Did you get it? My nephew was determined and he got it. I was only able to go on Sunday so did not get to attend the meet and greet. Next time....

Next year I'm going to try to make it for all four days. There's no reason I can't take a couple days off.

I enjoy it so very much, even though I don't even read comics, and it always seems like I'm rushing through. Then afterwards when I'm talking with others that went, they'll mention something/someone and it'll be something I missed. :(

So yah, next year...all four days for Yvonne. :)

The people carried me like waves in the ocean.

We'll meet up at a preview movie or something. Likewise to Cadet and others.

Actually I paid them directly. :| But other people told me the same things that are been posted here. I did get them when the came back from lunch, so maybe a full tummy did the work. :puke: hehehe

Here are some of the hundred of pictures I took. And just in case contest sites are watching I am not in any of them.

Cool photos! I loved Princess Leia! I saw her around the con and she was really nice.

And wow...#74...how'd you get that?

next year let's plan more meeting times so if we miss one we get some others.

I am glad you al liked my pics. I was thinking I took to much pictures but then again I didn't take enough. In it I am missing my real favorite, besides Lea. There was a girl about 5.8" dress as a sexy Snow White. WOW. But the pic came out to blurry. And the Disney Princes and Princesses were hilarious in the masquerade. Best show ever.

Dogopoly's plan is super great. These conventions are just fun to go.

I know if you buy Comic-Con 2006 tix before August 7 it will cost $40 for the four days and preview night.

And now you know. And knowing is half the battle G.I. Joe!!!!!
