Here's the thing: i think that my procesor is somehow not really a 3200. it performs way under par, and receives low cpu mark scores. i have gone through 2 motherboards, and neither made it any faster. i have a gig of ram, all the current drivers, but it's still slow. i would like to sell mine, i'm thinking i can get 120 or so for it( i checked ebay) and i would like to buy another 3200 or 3000 without losing any money if possible, so can anyone let me know if they know of any good deals? if you want to sell me a used one that's ok too as long as it doesn't have the same problem. i need a 400mhz fsb though
thanks, nate

It is supposed to run at 2.2 GHz. What does your computer say it is running at?

maybe he thinks that 3200+ really means its running at 3.2?
or the memory could be out of wack..
what motherboard are you using?

alright.
i bought it from a place i found on pricewatch. the deal seemed almost too good, 118 for an AMD 3200xp 400fsb. that's still good today, that's why i question it. the computer recoignizes it as a 3200, as does the bios and the cpu tester. since i am not at home, i cannot give the score that 3dmark03 gave it, but it was lower then it should have been. i am using 1gig of pc3200 ram(tiger direct's ultra) and i dont think anything is wrong with it. the motherboard is new and awesome this is it (http://www.asrock.com/product/product_k7upgrade880.htm) i believe it is a branch off of asus. i'm considering using the upgrade feature it has because socket 754 procesors are fairly cheap.
btw the place i bought the cpu from was gone last time i checked, but it was called portatech.
edited: i just checked again and it does exist, www.portatech.com .

That is Asus's budget line. What speed does your computer say the CPU is operating at? There were reports of counterfit processors, but most were thought to be in Europe. They were retagging them as being faster than they were. It is cases like this that I buy my things from Newegg or ZipZoomFly- great prices, low shipping and great service if there is a problem. Sometimes when you buy the cheapest, you get what you pay for. Is it warrantied and have you contacted portatech?
