My asus motherboard K8vse Deluxe motherboard failed on April 30th 2005 and they are still trying to fix that piece of crap. I shipped the motherboard on 05/06/05 (Sent it via priority mail and paid $10 for shipping) and I received the motherboard on 06/06/2005. It was not replaced but it was repaired. The motherboard had failed after two days with a different problem. I contacted the ASUS BS 2nd level tech support and sent it back again. Paid $10 for shipping again!. They told me they will do a replacement this time. According to the Delivery confirmation, they received it on June 25th. Its June 13th now and they still have not shipped the item.
This is the mail Asus 2nd level tech support guy on July 7th "I am awaiting the return of your board from the RMA repair department. I should receive this back from them on Monday. I will email you with any information and a tracking number as soon as I receive it. "
Mail I got yesterday "RMA has yet to bring the board back to me. I spoke with the repair technician who told me that I will have it back this afternoon and will be able to test to verify in the morning and ship back tomorrow afternoon. "

I filed a case against them with BBB. TWO Freaking months and I still dont have my motherboard. I am surfing the Internet with my Dell X50v PDA. I havnt played games for 2 months :neartears :neartears .

That's not good news to me. I have a bad SATA connector on mine and was thinking about RMAing my A8V-D. Maybe I'll just deal without the slot 0 and use slot 1.

It was bought when AMD had a promotion for retail employees.

The promised you a new board... why are the waiting on a technician? I call BS.
You are out $20 in shipping, the use of your motherboard for two months, a big chunk of your time, and still short the NEW motherboard that you were promised.
If they send back the old motherboard, tell the BBB that you don't consider the complaint resolved. Write a letter (not an e-mail) to Asus about your experience. Tell them on paper how unhappy you are.

Oh oh.. I'm in trouble now. My Asus K8V SE Deluxe (got in the same deal as DF) died on me just before July 4 weekend. I sent the board back via USPS Priority with confirmation on Wednesday and it got there on Friday. I am still waiting for it to come back and hopefully I won't run into the same problem.

I sent them several emails but no reply.. I filed a case with BBB and forwarded that complaint to the Asus BS 2nd level tech support... This is f**kin crazy... I think I m just going to buy a new motherboard from Abit or DFI. NO more Asucker products for me..

My personal experience with Asus tech support has always been good.

That being said, I think their QC has gone down the tubes.

The P5GD2 I reviewed a while ago actually had a MOSFET that exploded in my face, hitting my glasses. I sent it to them and haven't heard a word, they have my good Zalman cooler too.

My second experience is the last review I did, the A8N-SLI. The fekkin fan sounds like a duck! It goes "quack quack" much of the time, my fiance actually thought there was a duck in the apartment. I sent it back for RMA, not telling them I was a reviewer, and they turned it around dang quickly.

Personally, I wouldn't go with Abit. I would go with DFI. I met their people and the lead engineer and they have their crap together. The components they put on the boards are *NICE*. They break out the onboard sound from the rest of the mobo to eliminate interference. Heatsinks on a lot of stuff, really detail oriented.

Their primary business is ATM machines and such, things that have to work for more than 5 years without flaws and they are the best in the business there.

Let me in on it alright. Hopefully this time the board lasts a little longer.

I got in on the same promotion. My onboard lan stopped working, but rather than go through a repair fiasco, I just plugged in a lan card. I hope nothing else goes wrong. I also hope that another deal opportunity like this one comes along, too! (Nate may get a chance at upgrading to my 64-bit system sooner, too. ;) )

Asus did not repair my motherboard but sent me a refurbished one. I installed it yesterday and it has "CMOS checksum bad" error. If I proceeded (F2), it booted into Windows and everything seemed to work. If I went into the BIOS and edit the settings, it will not boot. So I had to clear CMOS to make it work again but I can't edit anything including basic thing like date/time. I am on the phone with Asus support right now and looks like that I have to get a new BIOS chip. :disa:

After the complaint with BBB, Asus is sending me the motherboard.. Looks like they will be sending me the motherboard repaired again.. They told me they will be sending out a new one... This is annoying.. HATE ASUS!!

Damm its going to be almost 3 months!

Anyway I am going to get a DFI mobo because LK suggested that..

Tell them to go stuff themselves. They promised you a new motherboard, not to pretend to fix your broken one and send it back again.
Tell the BBB you still consider the complaint unresolved untill they replace the defective motherboard.

ok I got the mobo and it looks like brand new and not refurbised... Bachivet, If you have problem and have to RMA it again, Tell them that you want a brand new mobo AND not a refurbised or repaired one... If not you will file a complaint with BBB..

I just called again today and I am going to get a new BIOS chip first to see if it works.

After clearing the CMOS, I am not getting the checksum error.. Looks like the mobo is stable now.. Hopefully it works fine for a couple of months.. Bachivet if they tell you to ship it again, Tell them to pay for shipping because they didnt fix it right the first time. If not threaten them that you will file a complaint against BBB..

The darn chip still doesn't fix the problem (checksum error). If I change any setting, it won't boot. :disa:

Will call again tomorrow for RMA.

Can't boot into Windows to flash the BIOS. I don't have a floopy to flash it in DOS.
