I just got a new Inspiron 6000 and for some reason, images in IE look fuzzy...pixelated. Everything else graphically looks fine outside of IE. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
Video card drivers current / working correctly?

The display resolution in XP is probably not at the 'optimal' resolution for LCD display. A lot of laptop video cards can scale the image up or down to fit the real resolution of the LCD. It may only be obvious in IE.. try looking at digital photograps in a graphics program and see if they are fuzzy too. to resolve, just change the display resolution in XP to match the resolution for the actual LCD (as stated in the technical specs of the laptop documentation)

The other possibility is that the Dell laptops with high resolutions tend to come with the dpi bumped up. This makes everything larger and images end up getting stretched in IE, making them look fuzzy. It also makes the start menu look wrong.
Right click the desktop -> properties -> Settings tab -> Advanced button -> and set to "Normal (96DPI)".
Let me know if this works out for you.

sequiro, yep...that was the problem. Of course on the 6000 when you set it to normal, damn that is some small text and graphics. But the resolution certainly looks much better.

For those of you with an Inspiron 6000 (or 15.4 widescreen display), what resolution do you have your screen set at? It seems to me that the only way to get a crisp and clean look graphically is if it is set to the highest resolution setting (1920 x 1200). Anything less and the display looks fuzzy or less sharp.
At 1920 x 1200 that is some pretty small graphic interfaces to work with. I have perfect site and can see it fine, but it starts to get a little hard on the eyes at that size. I didn't know if I was missing something in my settings to make a less screen resolution look just as sharp as the highest setting. I know that sounds stupid of me to say, but I thought that this setting simply changed the size of the screen, not necessarily the quality of what you see. At least it works that way on regular monitors...kind of a newbie with the laptop.

With any LCD, you have to set the screen to its native resolution otherwise it looks fuzzy. So if the screen native resolution is 1920x1200, that's what you have to set it to.

Mine, by default, is set at 1280x800.

:stupid:
That's one of the few drawbacks of an LCD - they're not multisync like tube monitors, so they only look really good at their native resolution.
