View Full Version : SS: Here we go again........

I just was told that they found another tumor in my Grandmom. They had already given her only a short time to live but she had seemingly overcome the odds that they had given her.
In fact, I hadnt thought about the length of time they had said she might only have to live until today. I had taken a trip over to the east coast to see her before the doctors predicted timeline had run out....that trip was almost a year ago and I had gone a little over 4 months into the time period.
This just really sucks. She already had to have a colonostomy last time and has not been able to get it redone since then. This tumor is not in the same area either.

ufc, I can live and breath what you are saying.
My aunt is in stage 4. It started out being diagnosed as breast, but it was lung cancer. She has now completed chemo and there is no more treatments for her.
She had an appointment with Dr. Needles (who I would recommend to anyone in the STL area) on Tuesday. He said that she has "time" left. The cancer is now in her bone and her blood stream. They did a PET scan (is that right? most of my converstations with mom is on her cell so I miss some things), and the original tumor (near her heart) is still there, a new one down by her diaphragm, and another in her abdomen. Hospice was at her house yesterday and a case worker today. My mom is setting up her 5th wheel in her driveway to stay with her. I am heading home at the beginning of August. She is only 13 yrs older than me.
I have lost my grandmothers both to Uterine cancer. One very slowly and the other very quick. My grandfather I lost to heart disease. I was talking with my cousin last night and we both are not ready for this. We (as in our family) were prepairing each other for our Great-Aunt Amy to pass on (90 yrs and diabetic). Sorry, I started to ramble.
But, yes, ufc, my prayers are with you, too.
