I i have an nf7s2g and I put my old athlon 2500xp into it. the second i turn it on it goes "BEEEEP" and turns right back off. i thought the cpu could be busted so i bought 2500 sempron and it has the same problem. i've tried a different cpu fan too. other hardware include geforce mx4000 and 1 gig kingston pc2700. has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

This system was working before you changed the processor? The only thing you changed was the processor and this started occuring or did you just put this system together?
Also, is this board compatible with this processor or does it possibly require a bios upgrade?
I'm asking these questions to try and rule out other problems and get more information.

no the system randomly died one day with the old cpu with the same beeping error. and the motherboard is basically brand new and says its compatable with sempron.

So... you're sure it was just/only the CPU that died?
Any system that suddenly stops working is completely suspect, from the power supply to the motherboard to the memory, etc.
If I were you I would try those components individually in another test system to verify their integrity.

The beep can probably be the memory not being seated correctly in the dimm. Try removing it and putting it back in. If not it can probably be other errors as Kevster said.

i took everything out and put it back in and it powers up fine now. must have been something not seated correctly. anyways, now im trying to install XP and it stuck in a reboot cycle. after it does the install and restarts for the first time, it comes up with the safe mode, normal mode, etc screen. no matter what i choose, it just reboots over and over again. any ideas?

probably a was a file missing during the installation or one of the files were corrupted. thats why it keeps rebooting.
