Hey guys, my dad has a bunch of video from his DV cam after his trip overseas. I'm looking for a good/quality app that can import the video, allow him to edit (cut out some parts of some scenes), and be able to convert these videos to dvd format for burning. he already has an 8x dvd burner, a i think a sempron amd 3200.
I want it all in one app because my dad's not as tech saavy as us and i'm trying to keep it as simple as possile for him.

Have a look at some of the apps mentioned at http://www.videohelp.com - they know EVERYTHING about video apps over there.

There is an awesome one but I cannot remember the name of it...
Look up Virtual Dub

I used this to hack apart a Dateline episode (used it in a presentation).
Lots of tutorials on how to use it and reads just about every format.

I shoot and edit professionally, and I prefer Sony Vegas 6.0. It's probably the most intuitive NLE (non-linear editor) available. Almost anyone familiar with computers can sit down and be creative with Vegas in less than an hour. You can't say the same for Adobe Premiere or most other NLEs I've tried. The pro version runs about $700.
Now the good news - Sony has recently released a home version of Vegas called Vegas Movie Studio + DVD which will do everything your dad wants to do and do it very well.
If you are a student, or there are any students in your dad's household, he can pick it up for $50 at academicsuperstore.com (http://www.academicsuperstore.com/q/PartNo-qk_srch/f/market-marketdisp/v/718513-Vegas+Movie+Studio+%2B+DVD.html?sourcecode=s10142&promocode=ce091U).
