I have a computer that runs a flakey piece of software and the only way that I can get it to work consistantly is to restart it every other day or so. Needless to say I might forget to do it and I don't really want to worry about it anymore. Is there a way I can get Scheduled Tasks to restart my computer every night like at 2 am? Or should I just download a 3 party application to run a little script?
TIA.

You probably can program the BIOS on your motherboard to wake up the computer at 2 a.m. every night...
My Asus mobo has this feature... check to see if yours has it.
(I used to use this feature to wake my PC up at 4:00 so that it could record a TV show that I wanted to watch... however I didn't want it to stay running all day wasting power. :D )

Thanks Darkfury, but the computer is going to be on at all times (it's running security cameras in a few choice locations) and so I just need it to automatically restart in the middle of the night when they're little chance of activity.

What OS are you running? WinXP has shutdown built in (I think at c:\Windows\system32. -r to reboot ). If some other, you can get a resource kit with shutdown in it I think.

Awesome cubsfan I thought there might be one built in. I found an explanation based on what you said:

Thanks a lot!

Where did you say the security cameras would be off at 2AM every night? :P
