One of my users is trying to connect his treo 650 to his powerbook for mobile web. Someone recommended this site to me:

http://www.novamedia.de/index.html

It looks like a pretty informative site but I don't know much about mobile technology so I don't know what GPRS, HSCSD, and EDGE/3G speed is. I figured I would post in case there is anyone who has done the same thing I am trying to do.

Specs:

Treo 650
Verizon Wireless
Powerbook 800mhz (no bluetooth)

Any ideas or websites?

Thanks!

ok...on the powerbook is there a way to make a new dialup connection? like in windows xp under network connections you can make a new connection and specify the number and user name and stuff..

if there is a way to make a new connection like that then here is the details on how to connect using the treo. i'll go out on a limb and assume he has the treo drivers on his computer. without the treo drivers you can't do diddly so if he doesnt have those i would suggest he gets them..

ok anyways to the juicy part

First, the modem init string must be AT$QCMDR=3

Next, the phone number to call is #777

Login is [email protected] (ie if ur cell was (212) 555-1212) login would be [email protected]

Password is vzw

hope this helps, any questions just post back! :)

i did this with my dell laptop and my lg vx7000 worked fine

Wow snowsurfer thanks for testing it out. There is a dial up connection application like in Windows. I will try it out tomorrow and see if I can get it running.

Thanks!

no problem esdee just glad i could help, i also tried it with a my dads v710 and my dads laptop and it worked fine. just make sure you have the drivers :)

oh side note: when you pick the modem that dials..make sure it is the phone and not the default modem lol :) (had to say that cause i forgot to do it the first time and i was like wtf)
