Was this a "Lutz" car decision?

I saw the SKY at the Chicago Auto Show last winter.......it's pretty awesome looking......I might just get one.

At least GM will have one decent looking car since Lutz came aboard. I doubt that the market for 2 seaters is that great, though. Unless the Baby Boomers are downsizing and unless it gets fantastic fuel mileage.

GM Vice President Bob Lutz...
One of the creative minds that came over to GM from Chrysler... who is credited for many of the creative departures from the standard automotive fare such as the "PT Cruiser".

I like it a lot. Change the grill, put on some real rims and springs. A baby vette that looks more aggressive than Miatas, MR2's, s2k's, and Z3's imo.

I *really* like this car. People need to get over the whole saturn thing. Its great looking, has a good engine that can be pushed a lot, and has nice features. It's a little tubby, but thats ok.

If you don't like the Saturn Sky's logo, get the Pontiac Solstice, I believe they're basically the same cars.

As much as I'd like to get behind GM, the car looks great from down low but from eye level between the tail lights and the bumps in the back, I don't like it. I'll have to see it in person to decide. I'd rather have an RX8.

You'd probably pay more for that too... :D

nice cars, the solstice and the sky. i'm kinda shocked that this came from saturn and looks this nice. their SUV isn't bad looking either. i guess thats when their whole line up changed its look. much much nicer.

Hard to say where the car is going to compete at this point. Similarly equipped, I imagine they go for similar prices.

comparing a convertible with a 2+2 coupe?

Certain people don't want to get over the saturn thing tho. :D

Hmmm the solstice looks like the chubby step-brother. Not a big fan of the grill.

Fair enough. That is an interesting niche

$20k vs. $27kish
InfiniteNothing

That was based on the Solstice specs. I've heard that the solstice has been getting marked up too. With the saturn no haggling price it may be something else. Plus about 4K in options to similarly equip them... You're probably right.

if the redline hovers around $25k vs the s2000 $33k. I am in for a redline.
Yeah, markup's still gonna be a ribitch.
InfiniteNothing

Well... no. Saturn has no haggling prices. I think it'll just cost more than the Solstice
Right... they'll mark it up before their no-haggle price :)

Wow, that actually looks pretty good!! Is it just me, or does that car smile at you? Even from the back, it looks like it's smiling. Yet, it still looks muscular. Very cool.
And for those who don't like it cuz it's a saturn... I think it would look a little better with a front grill replacement of some sort. Not that I don't like saturn, I just don't think their choice of grill works very well. I'd try to get rid of all those chrome pieces and go for a more subdued, muscular look (instead of the shiny muscular look).
Also... do they still do the plastic thing on saturns? I remmie reading something about them decommissioning or doing something to the factory that made the plastic body panels for saturn... any one else know what I am talking about?

It would make the car another Camaro. People want light weight sporty engines. I'm really glad GM is getting away from their "only V8"ism.
