This morn, I barely had enough money to pay for parking. So, what happens if you get to the booth and you can't pay? do you get trapped in the parking lot forever, or what?

I think all parking booths should start taking credit cards!

That happened to me once. The guy took down my license number and made me write him a check until I could bring him the fifty cents back.

I went to leave a parking garage last wknd while I was in DC and I planned on using my CC to pay but this place only took cash. I had just enough with all of the toll money that I keep in the car.I was lucky b/c there was a line a mile long behind me waiting to get out.

There are places in mid-town Manhattan (Theatre District) where you can pay $50 to park for dinner or see a show. Or, if you're just running an errand, $9 - $18 for a half hour. AMAZING!

Always good to have an emergency $20 in your glove box...

... until you spend it on groceries and forget to replace it

Yet another reason why it doesn't pay to have a car in NYC. :2far:

I was in NYC and it cost me 28 for all day parking. In DC I think it's 20 all day. I thought the metro parking lots over here don't take cash anymore. You need to load up money on your SmartTrip card I thought if you have one that is.

Have you read about the services in Europe for parking? You can now go to a parking lot or garage and pay with your cell phone. You use your cell phone to call a specified number. The cost of the parking is then added to your cellular bill.

What would stop you from calling from someone else's phone? :heh:

Not sure, I don't know the details. There is probably a password of some sort involved.

I read that the biggest problem they are having is that they have extended the service to a lot of things. People can pay for a Coke out of a vending machine, or buy flowers from a vending machine with the same cell phone service.

As a result, teens are ending up with $400 a month cell bills from all the stuff they are buying...then they need good ol' Dad to help pay the bill.

My car wouldnt start one time in one of those parking structure at Horton Plaza and i would have had to pay soo much money!! Luckly i talked to the manager and they let me keep my car there for a few hours gosh that would have been expensive...a different subject, my sister did not have enof money for the cab, so she threw him some dollar bills, then ran off....lol wonder what can happen, i guess the cab drives doesnt know your personal info, and you can get out and run
