/sarcasm/ Bunch of Alcoholics! /saracasm/

I hate all of the different liquor laws.

I never did get why in Pennsylvania, we can buy beer only at a Beer distributor and liquor/wines only at the State stores. Especially when I would come home from school....I would have to remember to plan early in order to hit the 2 separate stores. If memory serves, they werent even open on Sunday either. We always ended up just running across to the giant mishmosh of corruption called Camden. Within a minute or so of crossing the state line, tons of liquor stores and tons of strip clubs.

In Florida....while you can buy beer/wine in the supermarkets...you have to walk into the separated liquor areas for liquor. Some stores just had a shop next to the main supermarket. Others, like Costco, just had a chained off area only accessible from outside. I never did mind this...until I would come back from California and realize that it was much easier with everything everywhere.

In Oregon.....its a mix between Florida and Pennsylvania. Beer and wine can be bought in most supermarkets...but Liquor is only in State stores. My wife always gripes about this when we visit her family and friends.

America needs to get with the rest of the world. Change the drinking age to 18...sell it everywhere. Be happy.

Can someone explain what a "State Store" is? The only places I've lived in were just like what ufc described for Florida. Basically, beer in most stores, and Liquor stores have beer/liquor/wine.

State stores in Pennsylvania are physical store fronts, run by the state, that sell alcohol. In this instance, everything but beer.

In Florida and several other states, you will find ABC stores. ABC is an acronym for Alcohol Beverage Control. In Florida, ABC stores compete with all of the other vendors....obviously trying to get more money for the state in that method. As such, you usually could find better deals on some things there, while other things were much worse. For what its worth the physical signage is ABC liquor.

No wonder they had a huge row of liquor barns in NJ when I crossed over from Philly. It got my attention for a bit, but I didn't really give it any thought. Now I guess I have to remember to buy my poison of choice rather than do it on a whim.

my cousin lives in PA and is married to a girl whose dad runs a state liquor store and actually he makes real good money doing it.
