I remember what Laura Cain said about her daughter would be a stripper, hopefully just a joke! That's when Laura was in rehab and we didn't know where she was, but she said the kids came to visit and they went to the beach .
I remember Laura said Evan just didn't want to wear her bathing suit. How old is baby Evan now? I think it all depends how old she is whether she's "age appropriate" in what she does, and what Mom allows kids to do.

I'm a mom of two and I have to chime in here..Evan is at least three years old. I for one would not allow my child to even POSSIBLY (yeah there are the caps) be some perverts turn on just because she didn't want to wear pants! Pedophiles LOVE the beach and my kid naked (with photos he takes for later) ain't gonna be what he's gettin' off to. It's called "parenting" to make the "little lady" wear clothes in public.

No, not at all. I've been entertained by this thread just like everyone else. However, I draw the line at dragging children through the mud. I find it hard to believe I am in the minority in my thinking on this. Very sad if I am.
I can't believe you're in the minority either. I'm with you on the kids issue. This board has some very interesting, thoughtful, and hilarious posters and I've really enjoyed following the thread, but the kids should be off limits no matter what.

Tommy's Blog is back! Check out his latest entry:
"Eddie and Vanessa are here and they just asked if they can go toilet paper a house tonight. Not sure if that’s okay to do."
When I was a kid, I'm sure I would not have asked permission from my dad to toilet paper a house...and if I had, my dad would have looked at me like I was crazy and told me I'd be grounded if I did!

TPing a house...if you have to ask your parents, you are too young to do a proper TP job.
I never understood why anyone got mad about being TP'd, but I thought it was proper etiquette to leave your parents out of it, so they could act outraged and incensed WHEN (for Tommy, I all capped) you were busted and hauled before your parents by the collar.
By the way, ALL CAPS is a hold out from typewriter days, when you could only ALL CAP or UNDERLINE for emphasis. If you are looking for a fine quibbling point to discuss with the kind of people who actively debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin (After agreeing on what make and material of pin, of course), this is a good one. In a proper world (of my making, of course) one should only use BOLD or Italics for titles of books and publications. Underline and ALL CAP should be out the door.
If everyone doesn't do it my way, I will start ragging on kids.

I have to chuckle with disdain at parents who accept so willingly the notion that a three-year-old child who "just didn't want to wear her bathing suit," doesn't have to.
In the world of parenting-by-jake, what my daughter "does" or "doesn't" want gets, oh, let's say, a 5 percent alotment in the "final decision" equation. Dad gets the other 95%.
(Based on a true story) Jake's kid says, "I don't want to wear my bathing suit!" She then procedes to remove part of the suit. Jake pauses, "Hmm, interesting..." And then 13 seconds later, the swimming session has ended and dear-old-dad and crying child are in the car going home.
Jake's kid cries, "I'll wear my suit....I promise, please let me swim..."
Jake thinks, "Crap, I sure want her to be happy."
Jake says, "Okay honey, if you promise to wear your bathing suit you can swim....TOMORROW."

Well, I for one am glad that Tommy did blog us the gross details of his Sunday dinner. It's amazing they have toilet paper left to TP someone's house.
I think he wasn't blogging because he reads this forum.....doesn't listen to our astute wisdom, just reads it. Or, perhaps he and Laura were "catching up" on all of the freaking meetings that she's missed (to make her "90 in 90 days" pie-in-the-sky goal). Either way, life went on without him.

Tommy and Laura both need, in addition to therapy sessions followed by swift kicks to the rear, parenting lessons (italics for you, Wabbit). Not sure if it's okay to TP a house? Sure, kids will be kids but to give them permission? Letting your child decide how to live? Seems as if Tommy's and Laura's inability to make sound life choices for themselves has translated into a terrbile inability to make choices for their children.

Those of you who insist on picking at the kids...
It truly is a reflection of your character. Come on, knock it off!
I am not picking on him. First, if his mother thrusts him into the spotlight, he's fare game. Second, I am only pointing out the obvious: Shaq O'Neill is tall, Rosie is fat, Ellen is funny, Charlie looks like a primative ape boy from a classic 70s adventure series - one that depicts the Marshall clan and its struggle to avoid dinosaurs and slee-stacks, and somehow find a way home.

Today's conversation is interesting. Is it unfair to pick on kids? Of course! Is it funny to make a reference (as Boris did)? Of course! Therein lies the problem. It's the old, "If I laugh -- it's funny."
I will say, the conversation reminds me of one of the all-time great "Simpson's" moment involving Homer and Lisa.
Homer was making fun of someone and Lisa was feeling sorry for them.
Lisa: "It's really easy to make fun of people Dad."
Homer: "And fun, too!"

I don't think TP-ing is such a big deal. I spent a good chunk of my childhood TP-ing friends' houses...with my (pastor's wife) mom driving the getaway car!
Just don't do a stranger's house and if you get caught, the penalty is to help them clean it up. And, be prepared for payback!

True story: Workin in Atlanta...Guy I work with has twins -- boys. Says,'Hey wanna see my boys?" Shows an 8x10 framed picture of Darwin's dream shot -- two monkey boys. (White kids --I'm not makin' a racial reference here!!!)
I'm talking, two kids with bug eyes, protruding ears and a passioned plea in their eyes of "please sir, may i have more bananas?" I'm SURE (sorry whabbitSD) these kids have grown up and become handsome, young monke...er, men.
The point is, in my head, making jokes about the monkey boys was FUNNY (sorry wsd -- my italics suck). However, I would never think of making fun of them in front of dad, co-workers or anyone else.
Therein lies the delicate balance between that which is funny and that which should not be stated.
I love those primat...er, people.

You would be surprised how many of the "ladies" try to change me and change my mind.
Truth of the matter is if you want me to sign a marriage document (a legal piece of paper) then you'll have to sign a pre-nup (also a legal piece of paper).
I didn't work so hard all my life to give half of it away if she decides to cheat on me.

The kids should not be off limits no matter what? Are you serious? Laura chooses to be the "stage mom" and push her kids into the spotlight. That makes them fair game.
How many tabloids print stories about celebrity children? Should they be off limits no matter what?
It also goes to point out the parenting skills. Having your kid want to run around naked on a beach full of possible pedos doesn't make you mom of the year.
Besides, Boris really cracks me up.

You're so right Ritchie. I'm a single woman, who at one time was involved with a wealthy man. I told him I had absolutely no problem signing a pre-nup if our relationship came to that point. I was in the relationship for the right reasons and I had no problem giving someone I love a little peace of mind.

From Laura's Diary (you gotta love her typo), please be sure to note the line that I have bolded :)
Laura's Diary, July 11h, 2007
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2:12pm
Dear Diary,
Very exciting day for Chip and Charlie yesterday. In fact, Chip exclaimed, "This is the biggest day of my life so far!" That's a pretty bold statement coming from an 8-year-old.
We were leaving the theater after a 2:10 showing of "Transformers," when we spotted Fox 6 News interviewing people camped-out in line to see the new "Harry Potter" movie. My stage-mom instincts kicked in strong at that moment. I walked over to the reporter and said, "Hey, do you want to get a few sound bytes from two kids who think these people are crazy for waiting in line?"
The guy looked at me with that You-Are-Very-Annoying-But-I'll-Talk-To-You-Anyway look and said, "Okay, then."
He instructed the cameraman to swing it in the direction of the two boys and it was on.
"So, what do you think about all these people waiting in line to see this movie?"
Charlie busts out in perfect articulation, "Well, I think these people waiting to see the 11:59 showing are ridiculous." Something like that, anyway. Chip had some great quotes, too. Those boys were the perfect sound byte kids.
When it was all through, the boys jumped up and down and screamed like monkeys. "We're famous, we're famous!!!"
See- even Laura herself calls her child a monkey!:gle:

I think I may have been the one to "start" the whole don't bring the kids into it. My thing I'm uncomfortable about is the physical appearance bashing. We all know Charlie had health issues before he was born. And as much as I don't care for Laura and her parenting styles, what about Dave? He is the father. His cross to bear is having to deal w/Laura's drug addiction and the aftermath.
I just couldn't imagine not having control over my child being exposed by my ex and then coming across something like this where his looks are being bashed. Sorry, I stand by my thoughts on this.
Now, his actions about going up and announcing he was Laura Cain's son at the Del Mar fair...that's fair game!!

Ritchie, as someone who's been married to their high school sweetheart for over 21 yrs, I hope you find someone that makes you forget about a pre-nup, figuratively speaking. At that point, you will know you found the right one! Who knows, maybe SHE will have all the money and you won't even have to worry about it!!!

Regarding Tommy and answering emails rudely-
I have emailed him a few times in the past, with constructive criticism... I was always polite, they were always comments rather than put-downs. And every time, the response has been rude. The replies are always in the tone of, "We are SO WONDERFUL. You're wrong. Everything we talk about is fascinating." Umm, no... the American Idol talk gets really f'ing boring.

Laura's $73 Outfit has returned. The J&J webpage has her newest idea of bargain shopping.
I found it interesting that there are still some previous outfits going back to January, and I was comparing her body image. I also was paying attention to her left hand, the one with the wedding ring. In most pictures it isn't visible. She either places it behind her or puts it in her pocket.
I was just curious if she continues to wear her wedding ring during this time.
Now, back to the program.

I completely agree! It's so hard (as a mom of a two year old) to just give her what she wants to make her happy. But you have to be strong and be the parent! I think Jeff's the only one that sticks by being strong with his kids...well...sometimes. Then again, I think we all just cave in a little bit. :hihi:
And I don't plan on buying a Coach purse (or was it a LV?) for her when she's 12 either.

Laura has never worn a wedding ring, well she did for a brief blip in time. She never had one until I think just a few years ago and DaveCain surprised her with one I think for their anniversary or something. She had mentioned it on the air when she got it and then I kind of remember her saying she never wore it because she was so used to not having one. Now I know that it can feel strange to start wearing a ring when you never have but it doesn't take that long to get used to it!! It probably got in the way of her feeling single!

Of course you have to be hot if you want to date him because he doesn't care about brains, a sense of humor, etc. Look, both Laura and Tommy stopped evolving as humans when they were thirteen. Oh, and I just have to say that I can't hardly stand listing to the amount of drug/alcohol references they are making since Laura's been back.
It's like they're saying, "Hey kids - do drugs, drink alcohol, and you too could have a chance to go to rehab like Laura Cain!"
At least J&J could support her and not mention drugs/alcohol every segment.

For those of you old school listeners help me out on this one. With Tommy denying he's ever had any addictions, drug problems etc. it's got me questioning my memory. Does anyone remember about 10 years ago when Tommy went to his old junior high or high school and talked about his past drug use and broke down and cried and said how horrible it was and that they should never use drugs. I could have sworn they made a whole show out of him being a past user and used him as a lesson to not do drugs (apparently Laura wasn't listening). Does anyone else remember this?

-------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, 99.9% of me wasn’t feeling well, but there was actually a .1% of me that was tripping out over the added words to my picture on the blog. I didn’t have to say anything, but I’m not sure if I like that or not. I sure appreciate it, but I actually almost drove off the road when I heard Jeff and Jer say something about my blog in one of their little commercials they record. Do you know what I mean?

He's talking about the L.A. Weightloss thing, right? What else could it be? Seems to me that of course he knew that was going to be pasted onto his blog picture! Come on! He SOOO reads these posts and is just trying to sound as shocked and incredulous as we are about the whole "sponsored by" thing. But we're too smart to be fooled by you, Mr. Sablan!

I do remember that; can't believe it was ten years ago! I think in Little Tommy's world, he rationalizes everything. Being a drug user in his past does not signify TO HIM that he was an addict. It's a sad commentary on him, but I think he truly either 1)doesn't understand the definition of addict/substance abuser (and how could he not after attending all those meeting?) or 2)he's hoping we all have long-term memory loss and don't remember these things about his past.

Now, add the revelation that folks recall he chatted openly about his addiction--oh, wait. Just his drug use. Constant drug use, not his addiction. He's gotta lotta 'splainin to do, Lucy.

Tommy probably found a couple of things...first, the links to his arrest records, and then the whole write up from the husband of a gal that Tommy had an affair with and busted up their marriage.
That part about the arrests really gets to me. If I were J&J, I would have NEVER allowed Tommy to be the catalyst to the whole Becky's House project. Give him a bonus or something behind the scenes, but let someone else take the credit for starting it, like say... Becky? Or Q106 for letting them roll with that whole thing to begin with?
I am just sooo ready for his dirty laundry to be made more public.

I believe anyone can change for the better. And I do believe that Tommy has opened up his eyes to domestic violence now with the Becky's House thing, but what I'm thinking is this:
The way he denies his drug/substance addictions is probably the same way he denies to himself that he was ever any kind of violent person towards women. His current actions lead me to come to this conclusion. I've said it before, he's a rationalizer. He most likely thinks those allegations from those women were made up, blown out of proportion, or not his fault.
If he could come just come clean about his records, his past, and tell everyone he's made atonement (or whatever you call it) then I would believe he has truly changed for the better. I don't think you can leave your rotten past behind you by ignoring it. And if you do ignore it, then maybe that is okay, but you SHOULD NOT go around being high and mighty and saying how great you are, you're not an abuser (with drugs or women) etc... it's that whole "me thinks thou doth protest too much"

Finally, the crew is starting to answer all our questions posted here...for those of us who were wondering who the heck this "Chip" kid is, and why would his parents let him do things like visit with the Mom of his friend while she was in rehab...From Laura's diary. Thank you, Laura for reading and answering the question:
"For all of ya'll wondering who Chip is… Master Chip is the son of Larry and Jerry, our across-the-street neighbors. Chips, as Evie calls him, and Charlie are school buds, too."
Ok, he is the son of Larry and Jerry. Across the street neighbors from Dave Cain's place?
It is just SO very hip to have been in Rehab, I guess. I have been giving it a lot of thought...I have an obsessive/compulsive side to me, but I just can't select one substance to abuse. I'm kinda like Monk, the defective detective--I can't settle on just one, so I can't decide.
Another conundrum for me...should I go ahead and make my celebrity connections NOW, or should I figure I will make those when I am at the plush vacation spot peddling my beehinder around on a beach cruiser and attending group sessions where I get to talk about what a "Big Deal I am in San Diego?"

Hi everyone. Sorry to backtrack, but I wasn't able to post before and I've been lurking for a while. Several people talked about Laura's rehab center being plush and maybe less than legit because of its location and cost. My sister is a recovering addict who went to Sober Living by the Sea. Yes, it is expensive but it's not like Promises or whatever in Malibu where all the celebs go. It's a wonderful program. My sister does, however, agree with many of you that Laura sounds kind of half-assed about the whole thing and is a relapse waiting to happen. I hope she doesn't.

Well hopefully Laura will do ok with her recovery. But there are so many unanswered questions.
1. What really happened between her and Dave? Were they having problems before rehab? Why did he file for separation exactly when she returned from rehab?
2. Does Laura have custody of the kids, or is it 50-50 joint custody with Dave?
3. Where does Laura live? Does she still live in their house; did Dave move out? Did she move out?
4. Does Laura live with the kids, wherever she is living?
5. What caused her to go to rehab? Did she decide she needed help that day when Charlie got hurt at school, which was also her last day on the air, though we didn't know it at the time?
6. What did Jeff and Jer know, and when did they know it? At first when Laura disappeared from the Showgram, they said she was out sick, day after day. Then, they said that she was taking care of some unspecified family business. Then, they said that it's more imporant that she be a mom at that time than being on the Showgram.
7. Who decided to send her to rehab? When did she go to rehab? Little Tommy said he visited her somewhere locally in the days after she went off the air but before she was "shipped off", as she puts it, to rehab.
Does anybody here know any of this type of information? Thanks. I think as long as Laura wants to go public, which she has maybe hoped would help people, I wish they would fill in the gaps of what really happened.

He's training to be a new Simpsons character - taking over for Troy McClure. "Hi, I'm Charlie Cain, you might remember me from such films as 'My Mom's a Crack Whore,' 'Mommy, Is Your Nose Snowing?' and 'Mommy, Sissy Is Playing with a SwitchBlade.'"

Krusten's (aka Umpa Lumpa) hillbilly relatives can't read, write, or speak. They grunt and use hand gestures, so a radio bit would not work.

She was a DJ and they did meet at a conference. From what I hear she wasn't a very good DJ or wasn't that highly rated.
She doesn't have to work since Jeff is paying the bills. She just stays at home and takes care of the kids and dog. Why do you think the kids are going to be on the air. No babysitter.

Did you just hear Tommy? They're doing the "who's the best Google'r" spiel....
So they stole the "Google Master" game from The Mikey Show on Rock 105? Mikey came up with that one a while ago & they have listeners call in to go up against Sky (newsgirl) to Google something.
BTW... Tommy wouldn't say he had an addiction, because he never had to go to rehab! He just stopped on his own, so, that couldn't have made it an addiction.
ETA: From Laura's diary: "Charlie and Chip want me to take them to the movies again today…Harry Potter this time. I honestly don't think I can afford it today. I spent 21 bucks on tickets Tuesday and 29 bucks on snacks! Don't get me wrong, I had 50 bucks worth of fun, but I don't think I have the funds for another 50 dollar afternoon. "

I have to chuckle with disdain at parents who accept so willingly the notion that a three-year-old child who "just didn't want to wear her bathing suit," doesn't have to.
I guess Laura is prepping Evan to be the next Britney Spears, parading her 'va-jay-jay' for all to see.:puke:

We've got some real crazy chicks here at work. I always hear them clucking in the lunchroom and I feel sorry for their husbands that have to sit at home and listen to that yakking all the time.
Talk about brutal.
Sure, I could fire them, but who wants that kind of lawsuit.
I'm new here. I started listening to Jeff and Jer around 1992 and thought them very funny at the time. During the last few years I've found them less and less entertaining and put that down to the fact that I'm much older than their usual target audience.
After finding this thread, I now think they just aren't funny any more.
I hate the way they tease a subject forever before gettin into it and Jer's top ten lists are just plain stupid and unfunny.
One observation I'd make is, as I remember it, Tommy's speech to a high school class where he broke down and cried, was referring to his brother's drug use and death and nothing about Tommy using drugs.
I would like to know if Laura uses her own money to buy her outfit of the week or if the station gives it to her or if it is comped. Seems she needs a lot of clothes for just one person.

And I thought being a pilot was Dave's dream job. So he gave it up and hoped it would mean more quality time with the family. He may feel that he gave up his dream job but things at home didn't work out as he hoped.
Maybe he really didn't realize how messed up Laura had been, or how deep into drugs and drink she was. Maybe she used more when he was flying, and he didn't know how bad she was.

Hi guys, new to the thread, love it! I emailed the showgram the other day after Jeff read his Mojito recipe, I was kinda shocked that they did that: What the heck were you thinking reading out loud the Mojito recipe with Laura fresh out of rehab? Besides being incredibly boring to listen to; I thought it was horribly insensitive to her. My husband is 5 years clean and sober and he was pretty surprised that you did that. I think it would've been fine to have just posted it and let it go at that. Thanks... This was the response I received: We are sorry if that may have rubbed you the wrong way...it wasn't the intention. It was just a fun summer recipe that Jeff wanted to share. As far as saying it in front of Laura...that is actually part of her recovery...being put in front of tough situations. We are not going to not talk about a fun summer drink because Laura is here. Thank you so very much for listening to us :) Take care. I wrote back and said, "You missed the point, and you've lost a listener". From Tommy's blog today about Laura:
Laura: I had the kids last night, so Laura went to a meeting by herself…..I kind of stepped back from getting on Laura to go to the meetings. SHE GOES WITHOUT having me to remind her. I only go if she asks me and SHE asks me all the time. There was a time when I printed out the meetings and told her LETS GO to all of them. That’s fine, but as you reminded me, it should be coming from Laura not me about the meetings. She’s doing great. Laura has COME CLEAN with you on almost everything that is going on in her life. There is ONE more thing and SHE will mention this to you Monday morning at 7am July 23rd. It’s NOTHING huge or major, BUT when she says it, it will make sense to you and I think you might like it. NO, she’s not with me or anything like that at all, but when she mentions it, I think you might smile. After she mentions it, THE BLOGS will be very very funny…..You might be able to guess just from what I’ve been saying in this paragraph…..
OK everyone, let's pick it apart...
1. He must have seen that Wabbit has given us the go-ahead to use CAPS again. However, when WE use caps on this site it makes sense. Tommy's use of caps does NOT make sense.
2. It's about time for LBM to go to the meetings without any remninders! She went to REHAB!!! Shouldn't she go to AA without anyone dragging her there, reminding her to go, telling her to go?
3. What could the not-so-huge announcement be that Laura has for us on Monday 7/23 at 7am (more like 7:45am)? Living with Tommy? Getting the long-awaited boob job from Dr. Bucko? She's adopting Chips? Finally leaving the J&J Show? Now THAT would really make me smile! :)
4. "THE BLOGS" will be very funny after the announcement??? He must be referring to us. We're ALWAYS funny!

I cannot believe that the show is actually aiming to put Laura in front of "tough situations" as part of her recovery. Is that how her dearest friends help her through such a struggle? Admittedly, I'm not an addict. But if I were recovering, would it be appropriate for my coworkers/best friends to talk about alcohol etc in front of me to "help" me recover??

Could she be any more "Career-suicidal" than to to talk about something like her living arrangements with a co-worker on the air like that?
I'm going to see if I can borrow a soda dispenser like the one Jeff bought at the Fair to our surprise party. and some plastic shower shoes for Jer and his wife. I'll have their names printed on the bottoms so they won't lose them when they visit their swingin friends, if you know what I mean....
Ooooh, and let's see if we can get Jeff's friend Dave the VitaMix guy to come to our "party" and bring his magical machine - he used to talk about that all the time (probably because they guy gave him "free" fantastic VitaMix beverages when he went to the fair - word up - he gives them to EVERYONE).
God, I'm glad we can do all caps again!

I just spoke with a cousin of mine, who lives in Texas, has never listened to The Boring Bunch, has never even heard of them, and who is a recovering addict (alcohol, and various drugs..15 years clean). I explained to him a "hypothetical sitution" where a woman goes to rehab, then rejoins her coworkers, who have known her for years/regard her as family and make reference to drinking/drugs and go so far as to share drink recipes. He said "They are what we in AA call Enablers". I questioned him on the "putting her in front of tough situations" response they gave to MomCat, and he said, "being put in front of a tough situation is walking by the liquor aisle w/o a 2nd glance after a very stressful or trying day."
My opinion on Chip and the dads...I don't care if he lives with 2 men, 2 women, 1 of each, 2 chimps, or a single parent. I think its bizarre, and irresponsible for any parent or care-giver to allow a 7yo child to visit somebody in rehab. Especially when that person isn't even a family member. I'm sure Chip didn't know she was in rehab, but obviously THEY (ugh, caps) did.

I agree with you - what was the discussion like in the car: Mommy/Auntie Laura is in a place that's going to make her better....." yada yada. That's for family to know. I come from a family where if someone had a terminal disease, it was "whispered" - like "she has...shhhsssshhh....cancer" So, to drag a young kid to a rehab when they're not your relative - not like bringing them to Disneyland. I question the judgement or the thought process behind all of that.
Poor Tommy - he must still be sick - only one blog per day? Or, perhaps he's reading this forum? Hope you're feeling better, Tommy.:wavey2:

I was listening to a few minutes today, while my #1 morning show was on commercial. Two things bugged me:
1. Jeff says 'oh, we girls are just talking about shopping.'
- Guess we don't need to imply that he's a woman anymore. He admits it.
2. Jeff and Jer were attempting to be funny, saying that they had originally met in medical school, while studying to be OB/GYNs. They then said, 'oh, we quit school a couple of months from graduating, because we figured out we figured out we could do a radio show for women.'
Let's just admit it. They know who their audience is. It isn't us. I happily deleted Star from my radio today.
But, you know what bothers me? They claim they are a family friendly show, but they aren't. They're family friendly one minute, and making sexual innuendos the next. But it's tee hee, under the radar type comments.
I'm done with them. I'd rather listen to the commercials on my favorite show, then listen to their crap anymore.
Oh, and Tommy, you're not fooling us. We know you're reading this. Hope you're having as much fun as we are.
And yes, I'm glad to say that I spend far more time on here, then listening to your show.
Someone needs to come up with a list of sponsors, so we can start letting them know we're not listening anymore.

They are not "family friendly". They are chick friendly. Actually it's more like Soccer Mom Friendly.
Jer is so P.Whipped from Pam that he can't even dress himself. And lets face it, Jeff is menstruating just about every day of the week now.
The gang was good when it was single Jeff and single Jer with Tommy at the nudist camp. Since then it's been a downhill trend.

1. someone referred to Petie Gerlaugh.
2. And another poster used the term "Word up." Wow, haven't heard that one in years....perhaps a decade.
Jr. High Radio!!! Tomorrow's showgram with the Detrow kids, and TOmmy's son and friends, is going to be something else. So why doesn't Laura bring Chips and Charlie in? Jeff's young wifey will be there too.
On a serious note about Kristen, raising kids is tough work....so just becuase she does not have a job outside the house does not mean that she is not working. Of course Nina does not have the kids as her party-life, and OTL tourneys would get in the way. They would cramp her style in her nearly $2 million dollar beach condo.

Ok, I'm a stay at home mom...I have 3 children under age 5. My husband is a Marine and works 12 hour shifts, and has been on several deployments. I know it truly is a job to stay home and raise kids. In Krusty's case however, Jeff gets off work at 10:00 (more like 9:20), and is probably home by 11:00 every day. The kids are far from being babies/toddlers, and probably don't get up until 8 or later, so really she isn't home taking care of them on her own for more than a few hours each day.

I would like to know if Laura uses her own money to buy her outfit of the week or if the station gives it to her or if it is comped. Seems she needs a lot of clothes for just one person.
I always wondered that...that's over $3500 a year if she does it every week. A spendy habit or a nice bonus.
Jeff's young wifey will be there too
What is this? Jagger and Kristi? If Delayna was filling in for Laura...and Laura is back...WHY does someone have to fill in for Delana??????? :hmm:
SHE GOES WITHOUT having me to remind her. I only go if she asks me and SHE asks me all the time. There was a time when I printed out the meetings and told her LETS GO to all of them.

Oh gawd... but then you'll have to put up with that doofus Greg Sims (a simple-minded Jeff wannabe, imo) and that raspy, voice-like-a-rusty-cheese-grater, annoying know-it-all Monique (of course that chick Mel, who used to be on 94.1 with poor lispy-voiced Duncan, is the absolute Queen of the Annoying Voices! Ugh!!!). Sarah's not too bad though. At least she has a brain and is humorous a lot of the time.
HEEEEEY... I have an idea!!!
Why can't we have a morning radio show in San Diego with two primary women hosts instead of the tired formula :boring: of a man and woman or two men??? We could get Delayna and Sarah from Jack to do it. I think they'd bounce well off of each other (no pun intended) and it would actually be somewhat intelligent. They can have one or two supporting male players, but it would be a pair of WOMEN in the spotlight, for once!!! I have yet to see this happen in any radio market. Unless someone can prove me wrong... please do! I really wanna know!!!
Anyhoo... I personally think the only overall listenable and entertaining morning radio shows in this city are Dave Shelly & Chainsaw (my husband seems to enjoy them) and Stacy Taylor on KLSD AM 1360. Yup, I'm a liberal, but aside from the politics... he's pretty funny. :hihi: At least, I think he is. And his co-hort Scooter has grown on me too...

How do you know for sure they are sharing such a small percentage of their lives? How do you know they aren't sharing everything? (Unless you're an insider like Tommy which explains your weird use of caps) And then why in the percentage they do share do they reveal such personal things that make them sound like idiots?
As far as the speculation goes sounds like the show ends up confirming a lot eventually...the divorces, rehab, etc. so the accuracy is pretty high on this site.
As for our character...the show makes its living everday off of dishing the dirt and making fun of celebrities i.e. here is a fat picture of kelly clarkson so what's to say about their characters? They make a living out of saying negative things about people.

Tell all your friends, they can go my way
Pay your toll, sell your soul
Pound for pound costs more than gold
The longer you stay, the more you pay

My ears are still bleeding. Krusten has a voice that makes Mel's voice sound melodic. Krusten's voice stabs like an icepick somewhere in the rear part of my brain. Add that to her rapid fire delivery (must have gotten into Laura's meth bag) and it tests the endurance of your car speakers. Only good part of Krusten's overbearing monologue was that Laura could barely get a word in edgewise. Is it just me, or is she starting to sound a little stuffy again. Remember, she said she was alergic to wine?
Jeff, by the way. Before trooping your son and his buddies down to the station for "Jeff's Family Radio", make sure he empties his mouthfull of marbles. Couldn't understand a word he said. Of course, that's probably because your wife's screeching voice damaged my ears.

From Tommy's Blog: In a sense, I am looking forward to that final day with the lineup we currently have on our show. There will be a day when we do say goodbye as you know the show today, but when that day is, is not really known yet, but it will be so fun and so cool and so emotional. I would love to have the lineup we have now GO ON forever and ever…..another part of me, kind of wants to start WINGS. Get it? Like the show, as an analogy are the Beatles, later Paul started Wings. I can’t wait to start Wings. Okay, I better move on…..
Hmm sure sounds to me like T knows there will be "line-up" changes ahead, maybe soon. And that he'll be off doing something different?!?

In the past, Laura always sounded like she had a cold. Hopefully she will stay on track. She giggles all the time now.
is Jeff's new wife "Kristen" or "Krusten"? I've seen it spelled both ways.
In unrelated radio news, the latest Arbitron ratings for Jack-100.7 continue to slip while the ratings for the new Star 94.1 have ticked upward again. I wonder if the dudes over at Jack ever regretted going with a smart aleck recorded voice and random music instead of real DJs and a format of today's and recent years songs. Jeff and Jer's old boss from the old Star 100.7, Tracy Johnson, recently left Jack to run an internet based broadcasting firm.

From Larua's entry today: "I took Charlie and Ev to Tommy' s because the World Famous Eddie Sablan was there skatin' with friends. You would think Eddie's on The Disney Channel the way Charlie talks about him. I don't even think Charlie had ever met Eddie before yesterday. The kid's already a legend."
Umm, Laura, we know Charlie met Eddie before yesterday. You have more than told us how Charlie goes to Eddie's house and how cool the backyard ramps are. And how Evan slide on her butt on the ramps!
It seems to me like Laura is so woven in her lies about her relationship with Tommy, that she's forgetting what she's telling us. Maybe she IS LIVING with Tommy, as a poster stated on here recently, and is so afraid to leak that out there, that she makes these comments like, "Wow, Charlie worships Eddie, even though they just met yesterday!"
Anyone else?

Why is it that Laura laughs constantly? Her mike needs to be turned off or lowered. I even wrote in and said that she was the loudest and with her consistent laughing was really getting annoying. Will let you know their response. And today's show was horrible. Jeff's wife and kids made me want to gag. I turned the radio off early. I also noted that Laura sounds nasily again.

Aah, but we ARE listening, otherwise we wouldn't have anything to rag on.
Good point. Then we tell those sponsors we won't buy their products/services until they take themselves to another radio program, like Rick and Jen's afternoon drive, or another station altogether.

Laura's diary also says that she has the kids this weekend. So does she not live with them the rest of the time, or are we seeing a joint custody arrangement with Dave?
Her diary also said how one of her rehab buddies has relapsed, and he was such a strong person and she's surprised he relapsed. Well, I can only hope she takes that example to heart with her own struggles. It sounds sometimes like she thinks rehab was like a vacation for her.

I find it funny how you want Laura and Tommy to "Go away"...what would you do with your day if you didn't have them to pick on? I'm sure they think its HILARIOUS how sooo many people talk so much s*** about them. It probably gives them an ego boost, "Give them something to talk about" LOL
One more thing to those who think Laura is being "half-assed" about her recovery. HOW DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE??? Because you read her diary entries? Do you know because you listen to her for a couple hours a day on the show that you all supposedly hate? The fact is you all don't know *anything* for sure. Nobody knows..they share such a *small* percentage of their lives and you all think you know them so well.
The negative posts & all the speculation on this website, on the other hand, speaks VOLUMES about all of your character!

Christened name Kristen, Drama Club Krusten. I think Boris can be given the honors for Krusten.
Here's a lineup for the new show. Krusten, Jeff, Tommy, and Laura. It could be a "double couple" show where they field relationship questions that callers pose to them.
You know, things like how to (allegedly) shack up with a coworker after being released from the halfway house.

Could be another possibility - that they were at another ramp for two days - not Tommy's eye sore (can you imagine listening to that all day?). Could be Laura's living out of the back of her car and just happened to be "camping" in the parking lot of a skate park.
Just a thought.

So maybe there will be personnel changes on the Showgram???
It's hard to believe Laura would leave voluntarily. Where else could she find such a good job, which pays a rumored six-figure paycheck, for 4 hours a day? If she wants out of the public eye totally, I could see her wanting to leave, but then where does she find such a good paying job elsewhere? Assuming she has to work for a living and is not independently wealthy? Or getting big bucks from Dave?

Sadly, I believe it just means we're going to have to say goodbye to Delayna. Tommy did not sound sincere at all in his blog entry when he said he was going to miss the lineup currently on there. Maybe Randy too, but I doubt they'll boot Laura. Though one can only hope.

I finally signed up and decided to add into the fun!!!
Sooooo...here is one of my theories.
The March 6th episode, when Laura did not return (what a wonderful 100 days that was!!!), and Tommy went to visit her before she was shipped off to rehab could she have done some kind of harm to herself? I know when you try to commit sucide you are put on 72 hold (or something like that) in a hospital...maybe that led to her being "shipped" off to rehab????

I have narrowed the big news down to 10 possibilities:
1. Jeff and Jer have left their wives for each other
2. Rosa, Tommy's mom, is really just a voice Tommy made-up. His real mom, Ethel, is Jer's turkey-necked, boy-haircut-wearing wife Pam. She had Tommy with King Stallman before she met Jer.
3. Laura is really a man and is married to Chip's dad. Larry was her name before the operation. Dave finally found out and left her to take a long shower.
4. Charlie jumped off a three-story building and realized that by flapping those enormous ears, he can fly - well, at least glide - to safety.
5. Jeff's wife Krusten is pregnant - wait a minute, I thought Jeff was fixed? Hmmmm. Jer!!!
6. Laura is leaving the show to give inspirational talks about addiction to the mentally retarded and homeless.
7. Randy finally admits that Debbie does not exist - she is really the woman who does Jer's nails (real name Ming-Ming. She plays the role for leftover hashbrowns from Jimmy's. He then admits that he's in a love trianglewith Laura (Larry) and Chip's "other" dad.
8. They will announce that Charlie won the part of Curious George in the new live action film.
9. Pam comes clean and tells Jer that the new and delicious tofu was really the late Leroy Brown, and that for years she's been spiking his veggieburgers.
and 10. They are opening "Laura's House" - located at SDSU on sorority row.

Boris, you are my hero.
Someone said Laura was comlaining about working on the 5th. Didn't she have 100 days off of work? Why was she complaining when they have next week off?
My guesses at Luara's big/little news:
1. She's marrying Tommy as soon as her divorce is final & he's buying her the purse she never got, since she couldn't get into work on time - ever.
2. Tommy is going to buy her a purse, or a home, or a car, so she can drive chimp-child to auditions for the next "Planet of the Apes" movie.
3. Laura is going to.... wait for it.... be an extra on another show.
4. Laura's $73 outfit is now going to be $100 outfit!

What's with Little Tommy's weight loss blog being sponsored by L.A. Weight Loss Centers? Does that seem odd?
Is Tommy making extra money from it? Is Star making money from it? I figure L.A. Weight Loss had to pay somebody to stick their brand name on the web site.
Didn't Delayna originally come in to fill in for Laura Cain? So then in that case she's most likely the one to leave now that Laura's back. If we think Laura's back for good.
If Laura relapses, there's no place to hide. Not only because of the good detectives here, but also because they can't toss out lame excuses like she's taking care of family business if she has another long term absence.
I do appreciate Laura sharing her story with us but like many have said, it sounds sometimes like she's flippant about rehab and the whole experience.

A few minutes ago I was reading through some medical sites about a condition that my youngest son has, and out of curiousity looked up the condition Charlie was born with, to see what the causes are, and found this:
Causes and Risk Factors
High risk pregnancies such as the ones complicated with infections, teen aged mothers, smoking, drug abuse, or anything that contributes to low birth weight can increase the incidence of gastroschisis, which is more frequent in small for gestational age newborn. Either if the intrauterine growth retardation can facilitate the apparition of gastroschisis or if the abdominal wall defect impairs fetal growth is not clear yet.
Now, LBM, and so do her kids (though that's Laura's fault for screwing them up), but I sincerely hope that the cause of Charlie's birth defect was a total fluke and in no way related to something Laura may have caused. As a mother I can't imagine ever doing anything that could put my children in harms way. To me that is despicable, and if Laura had drinking/drug issues before and/or after she became pregnant with Charlie, I hope she is truly ashamed of herself.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Laura say she's struggled for years with her disease? And Evan is what...3? I have NEVER heard of an addict refraining from using for the duration of a pregnancy, so who knows what kind of problems her children may have in the future. Laura, the poor excuse for a parent, only makes me feel more strongly in my belief (although it isn't practical) that people should have to be screened and approved before they have kids.

It's easy to understand why you wanted to move away after your divorce--so you wouldn't be known as "Tommy's ex-wife" and your kids could have a semi-normal wife. I was a faithful listener up until 6 months or so ago when the show and the people started irritating me. Anyways, I met you many years ago at Making Memories (I was a friend of Terri's) and I always thought you were nice and a good person....if I were you, I would be concerned about Laura living in my children's house too---who's to say that she won't relapse and do something scary or dangerous when your children are there?

Laura has admitted on the website, tv, radio, etc. that she is a recovering addict and now wears that as her latest wannabe celebrtity badge.

Laura’s “big/not so big” announcement: What could it be?
I can speculate. Let’s see……………
With Laura separated from Dave, she’s going to announce that she is going BACK to her maiden name and wishes to be called Laura Hieter (pronounced “heater”). Soon she’ll be known throughout San Diego by her high school nickname….Backseater Hieter. And seeing as she’s single, Laura vows to have some fun with the guys.
Or maybe Tommy and Laura are embarking on a business venture together. They will soon announce:
1. They have opened a home-based BBQ catering operation where Tommy can create meals of chicken, dogs and steak to feed to his walking friends.
Or
2. Like Tori Spelling’s new Reality show (featuring she and her husband who are running a bed & breakfast) this would be Tommy and Laura’s show - which would be a great way to keep her on TV without having to audition for extra roles. Set in Tommy’s RP home, it could be called: Inn Love – Tommy and Laura.
Or
3.The creation of Tommy and Laura’s AfterSchool Kindercare. Boys do skatebaording and girls do outfit coordination and they help prepare food for the BBQ catering biz.

As I live in Temecula, I get the LA news stations. Tommy and I talk only of the kids and I don't speak to her, nor do I visit the radio web page.
Thank you for the warm welcome.
I'm off to the river with the little people this weekend for some fun in the sun. Happy Friday to you all!

You're not missing much with the conversation - he's pretty much "Shallow Hal". But then, you already knew that.

I'm AMUSED My name is Dannell and a friend fowarded this link to me. I was married to Tommy for 10 years, divorced now for 5 years. I'm not sure why I'm even posting here except to say that I'm surprised that Tommy and Laura are so facinating.
I didn't love the post about my 12 year old daughter. I didn't understand the statement about Tommy's blog affecting Vanessa ??
I'm trying hard to minimize the celebrity value in their lives and keep them "normal". It's hard to do when teacher's, school faculty, etc bring up the show every chance they get.
I haven't listened to the radio in 5 years. I only tuned in here because of the allegations of Laura's drug abuse / rehab and now that she is living at Tommy's and my children are there I was concerned.
Hi Dannell. I went to school with you from grade school through high school. If this is really you, tell me the name of the street you grew up on.

Welcome Amused/Dannell! I'm glad your kids have you as a parent & that you try to keep them as grounded as you can.
I think you have a very big right to be be concerned about your kids spending tim with their father, while Laura is around. It's very obvious that she doesn;t seem very committed to her actual recovery (you can read as much on this thread - Tommy "drags" her to meetings). Please be vigilant with your children when they return from his house, as I've seen it happen before where kids learn their parents/parents "friends" bad habits/behaviors.
As much as I dislike her, I hope that Laura actually does stay sober. I wouldn't wish addiction & all the crap that goes with it on anyone, or their family/friends.

This is something I found very, very interesting. We all know where Laura spent her birthday (May 24th)this year (2007)- in Rehab. But do many of you know/remember what her diary entry from a year ago was:
Laura's Diary May 24th, 2006
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 3:23pm
Dear Diary,
On this, my birthday, I will celebrate my 2nd day of sobriety. Ooooffff. I don't want to be that person who counts down the days, hours, minutes, years…whatever. It just sounds goofy. I did complete my second night of my seven week program last night. It's long, it's boring sometimes and I don't much like it yet. But, I made this decision to do this thing, so I'm gonna do it full force. That means no drinky-poo's on my birthday. Okay, then. I'll be with the kids and Dave and Matt and Kree and B and Randy and Debbie at Rick and Misty's house for an American Idol/Lost party. They all know I'm doin' this, so no one will be gulpin' down the booze in huge quantities, I can imagine. If they do, that's okay. I'm good. One step at a time and all that junk. My next meeting is tomorrow.
- I don't have much to add other than, what a difference a year makes!

Interesting post Trixie.
Still going through all of the new posts. This thread has really exploded recently. Of course this all happened when my job hit me with a massive workload. So I have had little time to read, and none to post.
I [like others], question some of the new posters [TOMMY]. I understand that everyone starts with "a first post", and welcome all of you genuine posters. Add me to those that "question" 'Dilbert-1985' [nothing but questions and no responses].
Adding my kudos to this thread for providing me interesting fun for a while now. I stopped "listening to" J&J the week after the Cedar Fire. I switch to them on RARE [sorry for the 'caps'] occassion, and then only for less than 5 mins. I just keep up with this thread.

Please explain to me why Jeff's wife Kristen needs to come in to fill in for Delana who is off today just to do the news? Can't Laura fill in for Delana? Hasn't she done the news segment for years??? Maybe they are still easing Laura back into her job by not piling up the responsibilities all at once, which is why they kept Delana?
wow, a lot of post to read. Since moving to 94.1 i don't recall laura ever doing the acctual news, only the not news(or something like that). When they did switch to 94.1 i always wondered why they even needed Laura. I know it's because they love her so much. I also wish they would just get rid of her and keep Delana.

Interesting. She temporarily gave up the booze for a short period of time but was more than likely doubling up on the blow with Kree to make up for it. It was also interesting to see she had what looked like a small wine cabinet built next to her refrigerator in her new kitchen. I wonder if it was too late to change those plans or if she knew she'd be using them at some point b/c she new this sobriety thing at the time was just to make people think she's trying to change her ways.

An addict with a wine-cabinet? "Surplus" booze is not a normal commodity in the home of an alcoholic. I'm sure there wasn't a build up of dust on any of the bottles in the rack. You'd have a better chance of finding an over-weight-vietnamese-lesbian working at Hooters than finding fine red wines in that house.

Interesting diary dig, Trixie. And the thought about the 72hr hold is also plausible...some security at hospitals but they're no jails.
No one's commented on Ray's video yet. Tommy seriously needs to stop hyping everything so much. I thought Ray's video was going to be some profound statement that would leave me in tears. I mean no disrespect towards Ray--Ray probably made the video to try and help others and I'm glad he found sobriety and was able to return to his family before his early passing. So much for Tommy's hype. What he said didn't strike me as much as the way he said it--it was hard for me to watch, even though I've worked in a field full of current/former users for years. No content and full of "you knows" but his delivery is devastating--obvious his brain was fried from that many years of use.
Rather doubt Dannell is really posting on this forum. And the only folks I know who spell behavior as "behaviour" are Brits and Canadians. Little slip there, Amused?

Re 72 hour hold - I've always thought that Laura either OD'd or tried to harm herself after Charlie's accident. That would certainly go along with the "security" but not "jail"....
Re Dannell - although it would be wonderful to have Dannell's insight here, I agree with Longcommute, it's not likely that this is really Dannell...another poster is a childhood friend and asked for confirmation of what street Dannell grew up on - no reply yet.

I seriously doubt Dannell is posting on this board. Another poster pointed out the spelling of "behaviour", which immediately caught my attention. Another red flag is that her posts were made at 3:56 p.m., 4:28 p.m. and 6:18 p.m. We own a little place on the river and go often and I can guarantee you that at the time of her posts I am ALWAYS much too busy to be typing away on a message board and by 6:18 p.m., I am usually on the road. I do not mean to insult anyone or minimize the posts that are made here, but it just smells like a rat to me.
At least Amused got the spelling of her name correct.

That's a fried brain talking. He used for over 30 years. I think Tommy mentioned that both his brothers were heroin addicts and that Ray had liver failure. Putting 2 and 2 together, Ray probably had hepatitis C from IV drug use. From Tommy's blog 6/23:
"About a week before my brother passed away and before he went into the hospital, he wasn’t feeling well and he was really bloated because of his liver giving out due to long term drug use in his earlier years."
Anyone know why Tommy doesn't talk about his other brother at all? He died before Ray (Ray mentions his brother's death in the video about 3:30). I'm guessing he died while actively using and didn't find sobriety like Ray.

Since I seem to have nothing better than to read old diary entries of Laura's...seems as if her and Davecain have had problems for some time - here's an entry from last June 20th that references counselgin:
We learned that in counseling last week. Dave, with his pilot-black-and-white-compartmentalized mentality doesn't really jive with my go-with-my-heart-go-where-the-wind-takes-me-everything-is-in-the-gray-area mentality. So, Dave's trying to be more laxed and I'm trying to stick to a strict schedule. It's hard for me! It makes me a might nervous.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is an imposter...Honestly, would you, in her shoes, come on this board and post stuff? I sure wouldn't. Unless I was still really steamed at my ex and wanted to drop a bunch of dirt...
I think the whole "Tommy appreciating Dannell" concept is one of his ploys to try to avoid an increase in child support. I haven't seen evidence of an honest bone in that guy's body. He's been a scammer since he was a kid.

While we are on the subject of 'exes' (is that a word?), with Dannell/Amused posting.
Has anyone been to the OTL tourney at Fiesta Island to see if Jeff's Ex (aka Nina) is playing ball?
Championship games are next weekend. I'm not an OTL fan, so I doubt I'll be heading over that way, but if any of our loyal posters have any interest. I'm sure she got time off from the Padres. They are in AZ this weekend, and have a homestand next weekend with Philly (at PetCo).
Since Jeff is on vacation this week, I'd bet he got his kids out of town, so that they wouldn't have to be dragged down to the "party" island and hang with Fiesta-mom both weekends. Just sayin'.

I do want to clear up one thing I wrote in a previous blog about the show and ME starting WINGS so to speak. I didn’t mean to startle or make you think it’s coming soon, but YES, there will be a final day of the show AS YOU SEE IT NOW, but this can be many years down the road, NOT ANYTIME SOON. I only said that, because I was excited on Friday that Jeff’s wife was coming in to do the news and it was going to feel like working on a brand new show and then I segued into the show saying goodbye IN MANY MANY YEARS. Does that make better sense?

I've been reading this thread forever but couldn't get logged on. I used to love the show, and I'd listen with my kids on our long drive to school (they went to school by my work, so we had a fairly long commute together each morning.) They were 9 and 10 then, and we'd laugh our heads off as Randy or Tommy would sneak into a local store and do something silly like pretend to be a Walmart greeter who had to hug the customers. Or they'd somehow get on the store loudspeaker and say something goofy. We were genuinely touched by participating in the human flag after 9/11. But then, one day, we heard something really fake and it was the beginning of the end for us. It was really close to Jingle Ball -- one of the first ones they had -- and they were pretending that they were just about to sign a "big name" to the concert. The couldn't tell the listeners, because it wasn't a "done deal" yet, but they'd tell us the next morning. It was so lame of them to pretend that the Jingle Ball line up not only had been negotiated MONTHS before, but that it was the same lineup all over the country, and in many markets was also called Jingle Ball. I couldn't understand why they had to be so fake. It felt like they were making fools out of gullible listeners.
Then it dawned on me that the "Talk to Cleo/Homer/Arnold" phone calls weren't happening in real time. Those were such funny radio segments, but what would have been wrong with them saying "After the show yesterday we made some talk-to phone calls and we're going to play the ones that were really funny." It still would have been funny. Why did they have to be so fake about it?
But you know what? I'd take any amount of staged "talk to" segments over the boring, fake, tired, no-effort, self-righteous, preachy, ego-maniacal, pompous, and did I mention boring junk they do now.
Last but not least, Amused is no more Dannell than I am. And I'm not. I'm also not Miss Cleo or Homer Simpson and if truth be told, I am NOT in a last minute secret negotiation to get Sarah McLaughlin to come to Jingle Ball (or Cowles Mtn.)
LBM. J/JBM. TBM. Still like Randy for no reason at all.:disa:
